Shotguns would make turns really slow; even now people have trouble getting their turns in within a week.
Rocket launchers seem good, but I'm not sure what model I'm using right now, or if I even want rocket launchers.

In that case you could just buff the damage ever so slightly and have it damage the closest few enemies in a little cone. (I am assuming you are referring to the shotguns at the bottom of the last page.)

Yes, those.
But, that wouldn't be a shotgun, it'd be a grenade/rpg, or some strange new thing. It'd be good as the top-tier shotgun or something, or a unique weapon, but it really doesn't fit with the rest of the shotguns.

Fair enough. Going to see if I can make the mortars some semblance of balanced. I'm thinking that they might end up as a side-weapon sort of thing, only for softening up crowds.
Actually, would the shotguns be okay if I just had it roll for damage per shot as opposed to pellet?

That would be a very strange shotgun indeed. I mean, the point of classes is that you can specialize into a specific type of weapon, and these shotguns don't conform to that type. I would really rather just start from scratch instead of modding them repeatedly.

By the way, where'd you get your avatar?

My avatar's a frame from a webcomic called Three Panel Soul. It's a good webcomic, but it doesn't update as often as some others, so I have it on rss.
Anyway, let's see if I can make the mortars less of a series of horrific rapid-fire death cannons and more crowd softeners.
Spoiler: 37mm Spade Mortar (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: 2 Inch SBML Mortar (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: M252 81mm Mortar (click to show/hide)
The firing time for the mortar constitutes putting the actual shell into the tube. The mortar must then fall to the bottom and be propelled back upwards, which happens at the end of each turn. This means that you may not fire more than once per turn. Mortars must be fired sighted and moving while sighted means you must resight. To sight a square you must have line of sight to it. However, this line of sight assumes the zombies are slouching, so you can see over them. You cannot see over large units, structures or whatever else the GM says you can't, however.

Anyway, I can't really think of any other simple, consistent way to make rapid-fire shotguns work. I'll provide less problematic replacements in an attempt to fill in those tiers though.

Thanks. The mortars seem a bit complicated, but they'll do.

Poll: What do you prefer?
A. Standardize grenades to be like other weapons. Buying a grenade gives you an infinite supply of ammo, but they take one or two turns to throw. Grenade launchers let you fire further, and fire more powerful ammunition.
B. Grenades are like they are now. Grenade launchers just increase your range, and maybe... they're more accurate and that magically makes grenades do more damage, or something.
C. Grenades are like they are now. Grenade launchers and mortars only get one shot per turn, but have infinite ammo and are more powerful.

C: Grenades make sense as an emergency measure, so limited ammo works. Grenade launchers are more like conventional weapons and I don't really see the advantage of having them be the only ammo-based firearm.

Completely scrapped the gas-cycling shotgun. Let's just say that the parts needed are too hard to manufacture or find in a barren wasteland. I made the quad barrel work by making it fire slugs by default, at a lower accuracy due to lack of barrel length.
