Irony is when the game is free after waiting for years anxiously, and then the account page is flooded with the like-minded so that you can't even use it. 

...after, of course, a million threads on the forums wondering if anybody would even be there when Cyan finally released.

I think the patcher is broken.

Not broken, overloaded. However, don't cancel it once it's started the download. It doesn't exit properly, and opening it back up again won't work.

The patcher *crashed* about 10% of the way through.  Clearly starting it back up doesn't work properly, yeah.

What's it about?

Ever played Myst?  It's about solving puzzles.  They take place in this slightly-weird universe that powerful NPCs have created as parts of an ongoing story, but within each world, the laws of physics tend to behave themselves.  Apparently in Uru Online you can also make your own worlds to share them with others.

Myst never let you inflict violence on anybody and you had no weapons; heck, the only living people you ever met were a couple of guys who were trapped in books because they did bad things, and -spoiler-.  However on very rare occasions you would find your way into a secret room and go "Wait...Is this a _torture chamber_?"

Anyway I've never played the sequels even, and never played Uru, so my knowledge is limited.
