Myst was freaking hard when I first played it. That stupid Airship needs to die.

I don't suggest anyone sign in right now. Maybe do character creation, and then quit. As of right now, it's just overloaded and choppy. When all of the people who signed up just because they heard 'free mmorpg', and not 'free MYST mmorpg', realize there aren't any experience points to be gained, they'll probably quit in mass and free up the sever a lot.

That's actually...a really good point. I hope the puzzles are hard enough to get them out. If it's anything like Myst it will be. I haven't even joined yet.

My personal belief is that the people who're drawn back into it ARE myst fans, and that they just need to upgrade their servers, probably with a donation drive.

On the topic of violence... I do think you have an opportunity to get brained in Exile. But yeah, it's about puzzle solving. This is NOT what is normally marketed as a puzzle MMO. They are hard puzzles you must solve to advance geographically and you will need paper. The main points of URU is to let you solve them with other people.

Can people send messages to anyone they want?

I could see a new form of griefing if so. "Hey, the answer to that really hard puzzle is Y." and send it to 5,000 people until eventually they ruin *someones* fun by giving them the answer when they wanted to get it on their own. Heh.

I remember that Zork Inquisitor, your standard run-of-the-mill point-and-click adventure game, had a two player mode.  The second player could interact with voice chat, and by pointing at things, and I think there were some preset messages you could send like "No!  That way!  THAT WAY!"

Yay!  It download and installed!

And...even in character creation, even in the movies, and while playing, it freezes about every 10 seconds, hanging for about 0.5 - 5 seconds each time.  Unique to my computer?  I hope so.  But it's not playable--and the game seems very dimly lit, even with my brightness up all the way.  I hate games like that.

Sweet. I've been wanting to play this game. I didn't know it was an MMO game. Well, this could be interesting. I'm not half-bad at puzzles and adventure.

I like that it's free. I'm not a fan of subscribing to MMOs or MMORPGs, especially if you have to pay monthy. Plus, with something like Myst? That's more worth my time. I liked the puzzles in the series (though the ones after the first one were real brain busters, and you had to log/make note of every single detail in sight).

Bump to let everyone know that things are running pretty smooth now with only minor hiccups. The Launcher is a pain sometimes, though. If you find that the launcher gets stuck searching for patcher updates or something, Log out of your computer and log back in. That usually resolves it.

I suggest you try Myst 4. Huge game, very difficult in some places, but beautiful.
