I watched it for the commercials - which sucked this time.
Sadly, even the superbowl is not left untainted by the modern media's decline in commercial advertising.

That one with the 'meteor/asteroid is going to destroy the earth party' had so much potential lost to hasty pacing.

I live near Cincinnatti, Ohio, and if I hear WHO DEY one more time I am going to scream.

Of course, I'm not sure the Bengals know what the Superbowl is, so I don't have to worry too much.

I was busy and missed the game, but I remember lots of "WHO DAT"s from the guys next door.  What is it, a new ad catchphrase?

No, its a common creole expression hundreds of years old, and has been used by native saints fans for decades. Since last week it is also trademarked by the NFL in a shameless grab for money and power.

Not quite, but it was well inside the normal range for a catch. There was a lot of pressure on, but he still should have been able to catch it >90% likely.

I wish I knew more about Football, then I might actually have enjoyed watching the game.

After seeing a bunch of "who dat" from facebook friends I was curious and looked it up. On the Wikipedia page it says that while they tried to copyright "who dat" in the end it didn't go through. They also wanted to copyright the fleur-de-lis symbol. Here's an article with more information.

Really guys? Really? I don't mean to sound like a meathead but c'mon. Now I know most people here don't follow American Football but some of you have to follow the NFL. Anybody? ???

Not me. I was coding straight through it last night. IMO the only two good things about the superbowl is that one of our local channels usually shows a sci-fi movie during it and the commercials, which I watch the day after on the intertubes. IIRC, last year was X Men 2, with the previous 2 years being Independance Day.

Gridiron. Hur.

They flooded large areas and built ships and hired crews to stage mock fights.

Er no.

Er yes.

I am pretty sure he was saying no to the "hired" part. They were slaves, prisoners of war, or criminals sentenced to death, hardly hired.
