High adventure on the Inner Planes: Level Up
« on: February 06, 2010, 08:51:09 pm »

What is this?
Assuming there is interest, this will be a game of DnD 3.5 which takes place on the Inner planes, AKA The Elemental Planes of Earth, Fire, Air and Water, the Positive and Negative Engery planes and the Astral Plane. The party will start at the first level on an Inner plane of their choice. and travel across these planes trying to strike it rich.

What sources can I use?
System Reference Document v3.5
Dungeonomicon
Races of War
Tome of Fiends
Tome of Necromancy
Any not-broken material that you can link me to. Or broken material you are willing to have fixed by me to stop being broken. Go hog wild, really.

How many people?
Four to eight. I'll decide who gets in and who doesn't, but I'm a fairly easy DM.

How often?
Travel, trading, research, talking to the party and stuff that doesn't require immediate DM input will take place in-thread throughout the week.

Everything else will take place once or twice per week on Gametable at a time or times to be decided based on player time zones. We are playing by post now!

Point buy?
Elite array (15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8, assign one number to each stat)

Starting equipment?
You start with 300gp worth of items and coins.

Wait, I have a question!
Ask in this thread!

I do believe that i shall say IN.
Qustions:
1: Point buy?
2: Is there a prime material plane?
3: Can I be a soul born, or a necromancer, or a wizard, or a cleric? in that order.
4: what lvl do we start at?

scratch three I just saw that we can use the K homebrew stuff. although who is this FrankTrollman person? Ah ok he works with K

I wish to be a:

Evil sorcerer. If that is ok with you (plan to go Stranger with the Burning Eyes class that made me start DnD in the hopes of one day playing it.)

I ... I thought the Astral connected the Prime to the Outer Planes and the Ethereal connected the Prime to the Inner Planes.

But I heard they changed the cosmology from Planescape at some point. Did they really just swap them out?

Lets see I have my 3.5 DMG book right here...

Ok the Ethereal is coexistent of the prime but it touches other planes as well.
The shadow is coexistent with the prime.
ALL the planes are connected to the Astral, it is also how you do things like gates and plane shift.

Yes. Assume it's generic DnD fantasy-land.

4: what lvl do we start at?
1st, assuming there are no complaints about it.

Go for it.

Seems strange to make such a simple change. Then again, it's not like the whole thing ever made much sense :P

Good luck with this! I always like extraplanar adventure stuff. Do they still have Sigil and the Outlands and stuff? That was a cool thing.

I might be in, depending on things such as timing and if I can get an interesting character put together. Probably another wizardy type unless I can find a real monster beatdown class.

I've never got a DM to do it, but... You need to add an Elemental Plane of Beer. Or alcohol in general, since elder whiskey elementals could be fun too.

Sigil and such should be there, but they're on the other side of existance, if I remember correctly.

It sounds like you can use Plane Travel to pop from Sigil to the Elemental Plane of Beer directly, instead of the previous "Sigil to Astral, Astral to Prime, Prime to Border Ethereal, Border Ethereal to Deep Ethereal, Deep Ethereal to Elemental Plane of Beer" run.

Much like Prime, it exists over there while you are over here. Likewise with all of the Outer Planes.

I want in if you have room left. Probably gonna be a rogue.

Not only is it not actually advertising anything, it's just copy/pasting word salads about gold, runescape, oil, yuan, and handbags.  It's like a transporter accident combined all the spambots into one shambling mass of online sales.

Someone needs to go Wild Mage and another should go Frenzied Berzerker. You can never have enough wacky hijinks with those two around. It's like the odd couple, but with multiple homicides!

Currently have 1 character, and am looking for 4-8. So yes, there is room.

Are we going to do a lot of walking?

It depends on where you are. If you are on the Elemental Plane of Earth, using your swim/fly speed to not fall in subjective gravity, or are standing on something solid, than you must keep track of weight normally. This will probably be the case most of the time.

Otherwise you are accelerating through space at 300 ft/sē and do not keep track of movement rates or weight.

Your character seems fine, but the horse may be kind of freaked out by subjective gravity.

I am going to rule that it is a DC 20 Ride or Handle Animal check to get an animal to try to change its subjective gravity away from the nearest ground. Failure by 5 or more means the animal moves up 1 fear level(shaken->frightened->panicked). The raven, because it understands your commands, attempts it when told to without a check.
