I've been playing too many tabletop RPGs with fantasy elements, so this made me think of completely different things (either a deity who sends down a lolcat to do his bidding, or a mage who appears as a lolcat in astral space).

Wurm Online or it's single player variant Stranded 2. Elona will hold your attention for a while, and Kongregate is usually fun to browse.

If you want something to read or watch try DM of the Rings or it's little cousin Darths and Droids. Kikoskia's Let's Plays are always awesome, I recommend X-COM UFO Defense. More Let's Plays at the Let's Play Archives.

IL-2 Sturmovik: 1946.

I highly recommend a joystick for this one- it's an epic flight sim, if you hadn't heard of it. 1946 is the version with all the expansion packs- the so-called complete edition does not. You can download it for about $3 on steam. It's better than any of the flight sims that have been released contemporary to modern consoles by far.

One thing before you try to play this game.

Daggerfall is, perhaps, the single most difficult game to get running on Dosbox in all of existence.

If you try to play it in Win XP or above, there is a critical bug even if the game -does- run well: quest objects, including monsters and items that need to be recovered, will be INVISIBLE. It is a game breaking bug.

Keep this in mind, and do not, I repeat, do not play it in Win XP unless you want to spend hours combing a randomly generated, massive dungeon for an invisible item.

That being said, if you can get this game running in Dos Box it is an absolute gem. I grew up on this game and it was why I pre-ordered Morrowind, bought the gold edition later, and subsequently absolutely hate Bethesda for their money-grubbing, back-stabbing ways ever since Oblivion.

I found a dosbox link ages ago that downloaded Dosbox, and morrowind, with a batch script that makes it run with no problems on vista or XP. Although you might need to ALT+Enter to get in.

 Eversion - a fun little platformer. I can absolutely guarantee that it won't eat your puny human soul. Controls are cursor keys with space to evert - find eversion points by detecting a subtle change in the ambience.

I've got IL-2 Stumovik on disk but it comes up with some crappy error (in french).

I remember once, me and my younger brother and cousin were playing Golden Gun in the Stacks, or whatever place it was with the glass and hidden door-walls.  Monopolized the gun and survived 100+ kills.  That was fun~


Anyway, I assume you've played Incursion:  Halls of the Goblin King?  Iji?

I'd suggest Zombie Smashers X2 and X3, too, but neither are freeware.  They both have demos available, though, and are probably only around fifteen, twenty bucks.  ZSX1 is freeware, but it's kinda meh.  1 and 2 are River City Ransom clones, whereas 3 is kinda Freelancer I guess?  Except the factions are pterodactyls and ninjas and zombies, and instead of spaceships you fly cars and/or galleons.  My hippie bus with six rocket launchers on it was pretty rad - huge swarm of missiles, AND they were heat seeking.

There's also King of Dragon Pass, I guess.  I found bought it pretty easily legitimately.
