It was sunny in Vancouver today. I noticed that some of the trees are beginning to bloom, and some of the trees have buds on them. It's been so warm, there's not enough snow for some of the Olympic venues :D

Y'know, i had an epiphany earlier this year about snow. And I didn't like what I figured out one bit.

Snow is a sneaky bastard.

As a child you don't know this at all, its an amazing substance, like sand only much more fun to play with. You can build snow men while most other people don't venture outside, its like a magical place where your the only person around for miles.

But, this year the UK had its worst snow fall in 30 years (a total of at least half a foot in most places. Shock horror i know). But after about 3 weeks of pure whiteouts it becoming extremely boring. Snow got fucking everywhere, made my bedroom a complete mess and I nearly killed myself on snow covered black ice. Not to mention the other country wide consequences it ended up costing the taxpayer like 3Billion £££'s to get it sorted due to closed roads and all.

But, we live in the UK. We're only kept warm because of the gulf of Mexico, so please mexicans don't switch it off!

Half a foot shut down the UK?  Seriously?

That's uh... impressive?

I think there is two feet of snow outside right now, and rising.  Crazyness.

The snowfall in Michigan is waning thanks to Spring and all.

Nonstop snowfall is fun though, and it's hilarious to hear about the snow plows that accidentally knock over people's Mailboxes, given that the snow covers them up completely.

Have you guys seen this picture?
Spoiler: 7th january 2010 (click to show/hide)
Only the Green Island stayed somewhat green.

This made me go find the following image from Dec 19 2009 snow storm:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Thats about Philadelphia PA dead center.

The sat image of this current storm, once the cloud cover ever clears, is bound to be a lot whiter.  I live on the Shore in South Jersey and we've got about a foot and a half of snow down already.  It is still falling and conditions have gone somewhat blizzardy, with 30mph winds gusting to 45.

I know it is nothing out of the ordinary for a lot of places, I'm looking at you Swedes, my Saab still won't be driving me anywhere for the next day or two.  But for us here this is about a once in 15 year storm.  For Washington DC this is being reported as their 100 year storm.

East Coast folks chime in!

This year it's been too cold to snow. We went from summer to winter so fast that the leaves dropped off some trees while still green! It beats last year, though. It snowed for a week straight and left us with 3 and a half feet (1.167 meters) of snow all over the county.

On the highway drive back from work, I saw eight drivers who had a lot of Fun on the roads. Ohio got hit with the most it's gotten this winter, although it's been relatively mild this year

That last gobbo would stand there, missing an arm, punctured in a kidney, liver, and spleen, fading in and out of consciousness at the far end of where the drawbridge would go, and his last sight would be the drawbridge dropping down and smashing him like a bug.

God DAMN I love this game!
