You know, if you make your hands unusable, you wont be able to get back to the healing scroll/ritual.

Imagine a cool peice of sky-blue and milk-white marble about 3cm by 2cm and by 0.5cm, containing a tiny 2mm malacolite crystal. Now imagine the miles of metamorphic rock it's embedded in that no pick or chisel will ever touch. Then, imagine that those miles will melt back into their mantle long before any telescope even refracts an image of their planet. The watchers will be so excited to have that image too.

Maybe later if/when we have to face/get past the water monster, we could use a bowl of liquid nitrogen to freeze it. (If it's hostile.)

Urinate in the freezing pool and see if anything interesting happens.

Why? It's not like we're going to injure ourselves by doing so, and it will be useful to check whether it really is liquid nitrogen, i.e. whether it freezes the urine on contact. And I doubt we will harm the fluid; it is a very large pool and from our experience from other pools, they seem to be mostly static and unchangeable.

What about the water monster? couldn't we use the liquid nitrogen to freeze it?

It would be nice to figure out if the water tentacle is hostile first, since it didn't slide out of its fountain and drown us.

True.

> fill bowl with liquid nitrogen without touching the bowl directly.

> go back to the water monster and inspect if it is aggressive.

> if it is, then throw the nitrogen at it, if not, then try to talk to it.

You fill a bowl at the acid pool and carefuly pour it into the cold pool. It mixes with the cold pool (both liquids are clear) and you see nothing exciting happen.

You pull your hands into your sleeves, fill a bowl at the cold pool, and start to walk away to the south and then eastward.

As you pass through the intersection, you step on a pressure plate. Spears jut out of unnoticed holes in the walls, and one scrapes you in the side. You do not drop your bowl. The spears retract right after they jut outward.

You continue east (quickly) and then north to the acid pool. You carefully pour the liquid from the cold pool into the acid pool. Again, they mix with nothing exciting happening. The bowl got really cold, and you could feel it through the Armguards Made of Pants. There is frost on the bowl but it melts after a few minutes.
