Throw two bowls of acid in water pool.
Throw one bowl of water.
I have no idea what you are trying to do but I trust you more than JoshBrickstien or Flagrarus. I vote for this.

Regular water, or the cold fluid from the cold pool?

I meant liquid nitrogen instead of water.

Uh, that's not going to work.

You fill a bowl at the acid pool and carefuly pour it into the cold pool. It mixes with the cold pool (both liquids are clear) and you see nothing exciting happen.

Wait, let me redo it.

Pour some cold liquid into it, and then repeatedly put ice chunks into acid pool.

You go back upstairs and grab the bowl of cold fluid from the steps just south of the water monster. The bowl is very cold. You pour the cold fluid onto the frozen water monster pool, and the sheen of water on top of the water monster pool freezes over.

You grab some ice chunks and carefully slip them into the acid pool. The pieces float, and melt at a rate you'd expect from ice floating in water.

You are in the acid pool room.

Rip up our (currently useless) underwear hat and bandage our poor right hand.

Wrap our supple leather rope around the handles of the chest, try to tie a knot in the rope with the powers of our mind, so that the chest is securely tied to the rope.

Then pull on the rope and try to judge how heavy it is. If it's not too heavy, try to pull it towards us really fast.

If we can't manage to make a knot, or the rope comes loose, pull it back towards us and away from the acid.

While standing a safe distance away from possible acid splash or the chest falling on us.

Maybe we should start at the edge and then run?

Getting the rope tied, testing, then running away from the ledge while holding the rope would be a good idea. A single yank might not do it.

Responding to your expert throw and mental command, the rope snaps up to the chest and wraps it up. You play out the rope in your hands until you're at the end, in the passage from this room to the hallway. You haul ass out the passage, pulling the rope and the chest behind you. The chest bangs on the edge of the floor and splashes acid everywhere behind you. You keep pulling and your rope breaks free. You reel in your remaining rope and peek back in to check the situation.

Run and grab some ice, run back and rub ice on important parts of the chest.

Well blast, should've figured out a way to proof the rope first.
