You go back for more acid, and return to the spider's nook. You throw the acid on the webbing. It dissolves what it touches, but the soggy webs fall down and the rest of the webbing is unaffected. You hear the spider back there squealing and hissing.

The soggy webs on the floor sizzle and smoke.

You back away until you reach the black fountain. Any farther just seems silly.

Idea: Sand.

Get sand from outside and dump it into acid until full.

Buuut... Get some acid first and throw at spider again.

You get more acid and splash it at the spider until it dies. Damn that spider for trying to exist!

You head upstairs all the way up and fill your bowl with hot desert sand. It's still warm by the time you get all the way back down. You drink and refill your canteen at the Turtle Fountain on the way back.

Dumping the sand into the acid doesn't really do anything. The sand just settles to the bottom.

You begin to realize just how much work this is going to be, even if you managed to get a container that could hold 19 Sands you'd still spend months filling this acid pool.

You haven't been north or south of the L4 west intersection.

You also haven't been south past the Water Monster at the Fish Fountain on L4.

You also haven't been down the L4 east passage.

There are also some things up on L3 that you haven't dealt with. And you never went past the GIANT BEES on L1.

> Alright. Begin filling acid pit with black crud. (The violent reaction says the black stuff is a base. Enough of it will turn the acid into water...and a salt of some kind.)
However, we could also use our awesome rope to grab the chest.

Imagine a cool peice of sky-blue and milk-white marble about 3cm by 2cm and by 0.5cm, containing a tiny 2mm malacolite crystal. Now imagine the miles of metamorphic rock it's embedded in that no pick or chisel will ever touch. Then, imagine that those miles will melt back into their mantle long before any telescope even refracts an image of their planet. The watchers will be so excited to have that image too.

You start filling the acid with the black crud from the nearby fountain, bowl by bowl. It's slow going. By the time you bring back a second bowlful the first is already dissolved.

After several dozen bowlsful you don't see any change in the acid pool.

Nivm, that might take a while. Might I suggest an experiment to confirm? Pour some acid and base into a bowl, and once most of both is gone (should be clear, or have a precipitate if the salt is sparingly soluble) poke it with the spider leg to see if it's neutralized.

Smoke does not kill bees, it merely acts as a masking for a certain alarm pheromone, and causes the bees to have a feeding response of possible hive abandonment due to fire. And when they devour honey, their abdomen distends causing much difficulty to sting.

Note: Those are large bees, one sting will probably poison and kill us.

Considering that there is a hive of zerg bees, The Swarm a swarm will probably come out and we will die. Quickly.
