Seems like two different sounds, one pretty constant and the other more stuttering, but both have the same qualities. Both very faint. You can hear your heartbeat. You'd have to get closer.

You creep along the hallway and it looks like the space opens up ahead. You can definitely hear two separate sounds from ahead. Hissing, and the splash and trickle of water.

The rifle had only one clip memory card magazine with only three bullets. Ricky "Illinois" Louis fired all three into the darkness right away. The gun is empty.

You hold the lighter in your mouth, though, because it seems pretty badass and you need all the confidence you can muster.

You creep forward into the open space, the light from your Engraved Lighter disappearing into the darkness. Your world consists of the weak globe of light that you can see and your own raspy breathing.

The stone chips on the floor give way to broken pieces of stone. you move into the center of the room and find a sundered stone altar. The rectangular base remains fixed to the floor but the whole top portion is shattered. Rubble lies everywhere.

There are passages leading in all four directions. You hear running water from the East and distinct hissing from the West.

You head East. The hallway ends at an elaborately carved stone door with a circular depression in the center. It looks like something about the size of your palm, with a square hole in the middle, would fit in it.

On the south wall is a fountain like on the stairs above, a carved head with a spout above a basin in the floor. Except this one is a turtle's head and cool sparkling water flows from its mouth into the basin.

(I'm going to get taxes done, will be back to respond much later but definitely today)

You drink deeply from the fountain with both hands. It tastes delicious and fresh. You drink some more. You're doing a lot better now, but you're still pretty hungry.

Besides the exit listed below there's that stone door to the East. The sound of the water drowns out the hissing from the West.
