You head up two flights of stairs to Level 1 (huff! puff!) and hustle along to the room with the oil urn. You peek into the south room.

The light from your torch glints off metal things lying on the floor. There are metal hooks in the walls at regular intervals with bits of leather stuck to them. The items on the floor are lying around against the walls.

You shine your torch inward and gasp.

You grab up all the stuff in the room, but you don't have enough pockets to carry anything more. You could carry it all in your arms, but fighting / tool use is out of the question. You could drag it all down to the turtle fountain and decide down there.

But just on the safe side you do put on the helmet and strap on the shield. You can hold your torch in your shield-hand, but it makes the shield useless. Hm, juggling a shield, torch, and weapon is going to be tricky.

Kill snake.
Skin snake with knife.

Cook meat. Use snake bones to pick teeth.

You drag everything back to the turtle fountain and drop it. You also drop your 10' pole which is really getting annoying to walk around with stuck in your pants.

You replace it with the mace. Now you're wielding a mace, shield, and torch, and so the torch and shield are in the same hand. That means your shield isn't going to be very effective ...

You waddle over to the snake fountain room and pick a snake to beat up.

It gets the drop on you as you walk up, striking forward and biting you in the leg. It doesn't get a good hold, though, and it falls right off again. You swing down with your mace and bash its head in. You hit it a few more times just to be sure, and drag it back to your pile of junk at the turtle fountain.

You put down the shield and mace and wedge the torch between two rocks. You take the knife, clean it off, and gut the snake. You cook and eat more snake meat, and have a bunch of it left over.

You set the snake skin up to dry.

Now you have a ton of junk to sort through and it's about time you decided what to carry with you. Here's the combined total of what's around you and on you right now:

That Engraved Lighter and the Charcoal don't take up any spacem nor does the Brass Moon Key. But you have to count the Canteen twice because it has water in it.

You already cooked that snake meat. It isn't getting any drier! If you want to set it on fire or blacken it or something ...

You head downstairs and south past the glowing stone faces. You turn west and you're where you first encountered the skeleton. You turn down the south passage.

You're in a square room and there is a stairway of separate slabs sticking out of the wall, going up around the walls of the room. The center is open. At the top you can see some kind of doorway lintel but the landing at the top keeps you from seeing the door itself.
