You head down the southern passage.

Shell casings scatter the floor.
There is an enormous BEE lying on the floor, not moving.
There is a Bloated Corpse on the floor, not moving.
You hear faint buzzing from the north.

The bloated corpse is wearing clothes like yours and smells pretty bad. He has a couple small puncture wounds. He has been stripped of his equipment.

The cartridge casings are the same type as yours. They don't smell like powder anymore.

You still hear faint buzzing to the north, but nothing more.

You walk carefully to the south, your empty gun held with one hand and your lighter out in front of you with the other.

You're at the top of a long broad stairway leading down. It's pretty steep.
There is a niche in the wall with a carved stone toad, its mouth open, and a couple feet below it a deep stone basin with a drain. There is just some dust in the basin.

Do NOT kick the toad.

Carefully examine the area of the toad without touching anything. We don't want to trip a trap. Especially look for anything that could be said trigger.

You consider kicking the toad, but it is up pretty high on the wall. Like face-height. The basin is a depression in the floor.

Inside the toad's mouth you see a spout, like a fountain that water or something comes out of and falls into the basin.

You look around for a while pretty carefully but you don't see any buttons or loose stones or anything.

(If someone else posts wanting to kick/press/whatever the toad, then they'd have 1 net vote for it and Ricky "Illinois" Louis would do it)

Cautiously go down the stairs, past the toad.

The very steep stairs go south, then turn around at a landing and go back north as they continue down. You descend about three or four stories in total, you think, but there's only one switchback before the stairs end.

You're at the base of the stairs. A hallway continues north. There are some small pieces of stone, mostly just chips, scattered on the floor. There is a musty smell. You hear something faintly but can't tell what it is, coming from the north.
