I just hope they haven't done the graphics in UnportableX.

They did.

Brytenwalda is my prefered mod. It's a little hardcore (but fortunately can be unactivated) but very well done and detailled.

I suggest you to ask on the forum of Brytenwalda rather than here ? I don't know this kind of detail.

I thought it doesn't have an owner, that it was just a place to make some slaves people working here.

What Neyvn (Oh wow, I always read it has Nevyn :P) meant was that he won a competition a long time ago and as a reward, the salt mine was named after him, like how NPCs get named to people who donate $1000 on a kickstarter project :P

Thing about that salt mine is that most people only visit it once, since just being near the place causes morale to drop like a rock.

I like it's emphasis on foot combat.

I love the setting and combat but the economy is rather annoying. Armies just cost way too much to maintain and trying to train them is near impossible. I think it would really benefit from the levy system used in other mods. Having levies along side professional warriors seems like it's valid for the tribal feudalism of the time.

Actually, there ARE firearms in Warband, they are just disabled by default, it's a line 'display_wp_firearms =' that has to be set to 1 to enable them, but I don't recall where is it located, I think you can access it without even modding the game.

As for mods, I recall Sword of Damocles having them, but it's a massive mod using a new map, but there are vanilla factions if you want them.
IIRC New Elgante mod also has them, but it's also using a new map and set slightly later in history, so say goodbye to vanilla factions.
Then there is the 1860's mod, but that's a whole different experience.

Well the official Xpac Fire and Sword has guns.
Blood And steel has guns... but them od itself is kinda... umm... "special" (especially the cannons and spawning undead legions).
Then there was Timeless Kingdoms for native (cool setting but the mod was discontinued).

Guns in the mod 1866 were cool. It is a good mod overall but I think it was abandoned unfinished.

Eagle and the Radiant cross has guns galore. only problem is you'll usually have to loot them because they have a tendancy to vanish from the stores. they're common enough it isn't a problem

Actually you can also get Musketeer soldiers from one of the factions. I think it was the snowy one to the Northeast-ish.
