The easiest way I know to get money is by raiding villages and selling the loot, the problem is that this tends to get the victim's faction really riled up.

I suggest you try your hand at trading, obviously it'll be much easier if you find companions with trading and pathfinding abilities. Also, extra horses help increase your travel speed if you're carry a lot of items, so nab a few cheap ones.

Moving on - has anyone noticed when you're asked to hunt down a murderer, they have an ungodly amount of health? I don't mind, I like a straight fight, but taking a musket to the gut only to keep on coming is legitimately terrifying.
Also, I think they nerfed the difficulty on raiding villages. I don't know if it's because they're engaged somewhere else or something but man, I can just raid to my hearts content. I'm actually feeling rather bad about it, villagers being some of the only people I don't end up hating for being idiots in most of my play throughs. Seriously, 2000 tholars a pop when you factor in goods pillaged and sold. Also cows following me around like puppies.

It's still nothing compared to caravan trade. Take a velvet caravan from the south (~8,000 starting thelars), and bring it to Vyborg, and make an easy 70,000-100,000 thelars. Provided you have a trade permit and an army strong enough to keep bandits/deserters away.

I get a few crashes every now and again on windows 7...

Do you have AMD? Mount and Blade HATES AMD.

When you pull out your lance (Or any couchable weapon), there's a little red dot near the weapon icon. Once that changes you can press "x" to start couching. You'll automatically "uncouch" your weapon if you turn to wide or slow down too much.

You can change how that works or just change it back to automatic in the options menu though.

Depends, what game are you playing, Warband or F&S?

For Warband:
Ranged is tied between Vaegir Marksmen and Rhodok Sharpshooters. Personally I roll towards sharpshooters.
Cavalry is tied between Swadian Knights and Sarranid Mamlukes. I prefer Knights though, since they get Morningstars.
Infantry, Nord Huscarls win hands down.

In F&S, I haven't played all the factions, but Winged Hussars are rape tier.

I fixed it. It doesn't seem to like fullscreen mode. Also, is it just me or do villages no longer have recruits in them?
