Fire & Sword is out now. It's a very quick download - I'm stable at ~800-850 kb/s.

I conned someone into buying it for me before it was cool.

Bought it with the Complete Pack on a whim; looking forward to shooting people in the face. I'm on a horse.

Edit: Holy hell this is hard, even on the easiest difficulty setting. Getting two shot by those moronic bandits even with a full company of musketeer mercs is annoying... and the lack of detail in character creation is off-putting. Probably going to stick to Warband until decent mods come out.

Yeah, it needs mods in a bad way, but seems like there are some nice features so in a few months should be good to go

Apparently, paper armor is as good as metal.

I just found a sturdy paper cap. Price 2718, +18 head armor. That's what we're doing wrong! We shouldn't be using metal on our tanks! We should tape phone books to them instead.

I think I'll do what someone else mentioned and stick to Warband for a bit.

It is. Chinese brigantine paper armor can stop arrows, bolts, slashing and piercing weapons easily.

Yes, but it kills you eventually from lead poisoning.  :P

I got the new expansion, and bought M&B again just to have it on steam. Now I have two legit copies.

Won't be able to play for a few weeks though.

So... Other then the grenades and sieges. Has anyone found something that a modder have not done already?

Quote
Zhijia (纸甲), or paper armour originated during the Tang dynasty. It was said that this form of armour was made during the reign of Tangyizong (859 – 873 CE). During the Song-Hsia Wars, thirty thousand of this form of armour was made and worn by the besieged archers of the Song dynasty in the fortress in Shanxi. It was made from a form of processed paper being one to three inches thick. Under wet conditions such as rain the material would turn even tougher making it a valuable form of defence against arrows. This was an important tactical advantage of paper armour as metal armour, despite providing a much better protection, would rust under these conditions. Other advantages of this form of armour includes its lightness allowing perhaps the greatest form of mobility among all armour styles. Lightness was essential and hence the paper armour being one of the more preferred form of armour in areas of the south where there are a large amount of rivers and forests. During the campaign by General Qi Jiguang against the Japanese pirates, a large number of his troops wore this form of armour as it was effective against the firearms of the time. In addition, it was extremely flexible as well as cheap to produce.

I just found that. Cool stuff.

Did the tutorial, got shot in the head by starting quest bandits, lost my horse and both weapons. Couldn't find any arena in the nearest town to make money by brawling. Time to restart?

Actually, grenades have already been done in multiple mods. I have no idea what the sieges are like though

It needs the "continue battle after you're dead" tweak. You know how archers tend to prefer to pick you as a target, well now they have guns that will one shoot kill you.  :o

Yeah, this game is extremely hard. I peaked my head over a mountain and instantly got fifteen bullets ventilating my innards.
