* Version 24.13 Bring Out Your Dead*
~ Gambling bets set to 13 or 130 denars. This will keep gambling useful, and gains in the hundreds instead of thousands.
~ Fixed bug where Khan's Fist and Bloodstone, the Robe of Hades dropped when their mounts are killed on the field. Should drop normally now.
~ Evil eye now leaves a red glow.
~ Fixed minor bug where you had to press tab to exit the tavern to get your result when gambling.
~ There were duplicate roman numerals for chapters in the Necronomicon, and some missing numerals in other places. Fixed.
~ Bloodfountain troop now has invisible armor. No more "zombie battery".
~ Speaking to Jakfraust and Galatea, and finding Imhotep's location are now also required for Relicmaster rewards.
~ What was previously "The Pit" has been renamed to "The Catacombs". Just fits this location better.
~ Familiar sounds added.
~ Renamed "Plagued Artillery" to "Miasmic Artillery".
~ Removed companion spawns from the Old Four Ways Inn. They were not working properly. Now only spawns The Undying Sword, if in party.
~ Fixed wind sounds for scenes.
~ Alchemist wager reduced to 10000 denars.
~ "Ghostified" Fortunato's textures.
~ Restrict Claimant to the Evil faction's inventory.
~ Familiar maintenance checks every two days. Mumiyo and Imhotep maintenance checks every three days.
~ No need for inventory space check on horse sacrifice.
~ New compass.
~ Health bar is now green.
~ New sounds for Blackwolf, Wolfsbane Alpha, Siege Cannon, and Sludge Cannon. Bang.
~ Wolf sounds for warcry for Werewolf characters. Hiss sound for warcry for Vampire characters. Rats sound for warcry for Ghoul characters.
~ Training Dummy recipe moved to first page of the Necronomicon.
~ New recipe "Summon Familiar" available to Rank 4 Necromancers. No ouija board is necessary - just a Horse Corpse, Spice, and Candles. Only one familiar at a time may be kept. Each familiar takes a random form when summoned, and has two life points that add to one of the necromancer's main attributes. These Familiars require daily feeding of the usual kind... and sometimes of the less than usual kind. If they are not fed, or otherwise cared for - for they are mortal and suffer ills as their mortal counterparts do - they may suffer the loss of life points. If a familiar loses both life points it will die, and the Necromancer will permanently lose a point in the appropriate attribute.
~ New recipe "Mumiyo" available to Rank 5 Necromancers. Counts as Food. Mumiyo gives the necromancer a small bonus to all attributes, and also improves troop morale, and counts as a food. But after using it even once, if a little bit is not consumed every day, the necromancer will suffer a withdrawal, giving them a penalty to all attributes. This effect will persist forever until reversed again by more Mumiyo.
~ New recipes for manufacturing Sickles, Hay Forks, Spade Shovels, and Grain Scythes added to the Craftsman's Journal. Each requires a Staff and Tools, and results in a net loss.
~ Human Flesh can be used for Dried Meat or Sausage recipe, via Farmer's Almanac.
~ Two Antihero-friendly foods added to Farmer's Almanac: Nog (milk+spice), and Blood Pudding (blood+honey).
~ Smoked Fish recipe removed from Farmer's Almanac. Added to Old Creel and enhanced with x5 and x10 (for Steppe Child characters) recipes.
~ Cures for the three plagues are in. Radoghir Garlic, Tehlrog Aconite, Chalbek Mullein are special associated items. All found in graveyards of castles (normally not possible now) when seeking a cure. Mandrake can permanently kill the player when harvesting, unless they have Wax in their inventory.
~ Necrotic Familiar added. It does not require food, and therefore cannot die, unless it is directly lost. Any normal dead Familiar can be turned into this. When a Familiar dies, if the corpse is taken through the underworld gate by a Lich character, with a Philosopher Stone (and the Infinity Stone of course!), it will become a Necrotic Familiar.
~ ECT Machine added. Craftable via Man Out of Time. Can be used via Camp Menu. May cure Madness and/or Mumiyo addiction, or may cost you 1 Int. The recipe is: Tools, Crystal, Wood, Gold, Sulfuric Acid, and Linen.
~ Ghostwood added. Rarely found when using the "Woodlore" gathering skill. Goods item.
~ Crocuses added - two make one Spice, via the Farmer's Almanac, and also used as-is by Ghouls, to prevent rep loss from bad smell when entering populated areas.
~ Manticore and Man Out of Time added. Part of the now extended rewards for the Antihero character storyline.
~ Invisibility Scarf, Invisibility Coat, Invisibility Socks, Invisibility Mittens, and Flying Ointment added as the Garments of Invisibility set. Related Bloodfountain dialog added.
~ Fawkes' Mask added. You will receive one of these every 5th of Ice Moon, along with Sapper Charges. Remember, remember...
~ Bloodwine now has 60 doses, instead of 54.
~ New model for Poe's Quill. It actually looks like a quill now.
~ The Black Knight set renamed to "The Dark Knight", to align with Native lore.
~ Prices for Bread of the Dead and Bloodwine at Buxworth lowered to 130 denars and 1300 denars, respectively.
~ New menu item "Mumiyo" available for mummer characters, from Buxworth, for 13000 denars.
~ Sapper Charges added. Antihero character without infection is required; recipe received from the Great Artificer. 1 Sulfur + 2 Wood + 1 Graveyard Soil + 2 Wax. Bypass the need to wait for siege ladders/towers - this has the added benefit of being able to attack at any time. The trade-off is a 1 in 4 chance of massively damaging yourself and your troops on the field as combat begins. Fortune characters will avoid personal damage if a backfire occurs.
~ Rumplestiltskin added. Turn 6x wheat into 1 gold via camp menu. Reward from Poppetmaster storyline.
~ Muckraker added. During the Evil faction Claimant quests, can be acquired by bringing the Gravemaster in Kulum an Artificer's Mancatcher. You can keep it or trade it to the Claimant for the Ghost Machine. Works as a spade shovel and a Hand of Glory.
~ Ghost Machine added. Make slimes from prisoners via camp menu. Possible reward from finishing Evil faction Claimant quests.
~ Pegasus the Golden Fiddle, Chrysaor the Golden Bow, and Mask of the Rat King added. "Troubadour" character only Museum reward. Must win an outside bet with Mephistopheles. One chance. Playing Hymn to Mephistopheles while all three are at least in your inventory has a chance of turning a character into a Ghoul.
~ Nightmare Cube added. Museum reward. Contains a puzzle to solve - the reward is your character learning how to use it to visit the Nightmare Realm whenever you choose. Multiplies in player inventory.
~ Eye of Izanagi added. Museum reward. Use via camp menu to summon the Terracotta Army of Qin Shi Huang; one-time-use; fills party with Terracotta Warriors. Works like an Evil Eye, only it allows "Blindness" characters to see perfectly (and banishes fog).
~ Moon Tooth. Museum reward. The Antihero equivalent of Hematite, the Sword of Hades.
~ Changeling Familiar added. Museum Reward - counts as summoning a Familiar for Rank purposes, if Necromancy is used later. Travelers know the location of the village in related quest. Adds +2 to all attributes; lose -2 from all attributes when lost.
~ Meat Grinder added. Make flesh and blood from human corpses, or horse meat and blood from horse corpses, via the Farmer's Almanac. Recipe for making it added to the Craftsman's Journal. Note: I like the way this implies that horse blood can also be used for necromancy.
~ The Black Cat added. Familiar. Random stat bonus. Received if the total of the character's four stats is a multiple of 13 (13, 26, 39, 52, 65, 78, 91, 104, 117, 130, etc) when a familiar is summoned.
~ Bloodwine and Nog can be used in place of Wine and Milk, respectively, when feeding Familiars, to avoid any negative bonuses. This is expensive, but most pet care is.
~ The chest at Old Zendar or The Necropolis can be used to place your familiar in "Stasis" - you lose the benefit of their stat bonuses, and in return, you do not have to feed them while they are in there. Useless for Necrotic Familiars.
~ Obsidian Disk added. For teleporting to The Museum.
~ Mousetrap added. Made from tools. Prevents pickpocketing - chance of breaking each use.
~ Blackwolf added as a firearm. Extra reward from Assassin characters who are also Antihero characters.
~ Fairy Sunstone added as a Faire reward. Enables the character to return to The Faire once, then disappears from inventory.
~ Persephone's Divine Raiment added as a special, one-time Faire reward for Female characters.
~ A very secret mount added for Female characters, with only a 1 in 100 chance of appearing on permadeath.
~ Minor birthday reward for being born on the 22nd of Death Moon (forcing the player to wait a year for a birthday reward): Nog and Blood Pudding. Birthday party leftovers.
~ Three new hair/beard colors: mahogany, woad, and shamrock.
~ Porphyria and Lycanthropy are now diseases that can be acquired from dying in combat with Vampires and Werewolves. If this happens, the character will recieve the stat changes and the armor of the respective troop, but not the weapons. Characters cannot contract Porphyria or Lycanthropy if they already have the Black Death, and vice-versa.
~ Vampire, Werewolf and Ghoul characters with Madness have nightmares during the day while resting, instead. Ghost, Lich, and Death Itself characters don't sleep while resting, and hence have no nightmares, even with Madness.
~ Ghoul characters must also speak to Mephistopheles for Relicmaster rewards.
~ "Your father was... A fisherman. (Str+1,Int+2)" added to character creation. Receives the "Old Creel" artifact at creation, which allows them to gather Raw Fish, and (rarely) Wrapping Boots, Pottery, Bones, Horse Corpses or Human Corpses. Fishing at Fenada, Fearichen, Fisdnar, or Tebandra will gather 10% faster. The Old Creel also allows the character to turn Raw Fish into Smoked Fish via the Camp menu (this recipe was moved from the Farmer's Almanac). Steppe Child characters can cook up to ten fish per piece of Wood used. Other characters can cook up to five.
~ "Your father was... A fairy. (Str+1,Cha+2)" added to character creation. Can gather Wood and craft wooden weapons via "Woodlore" on the Camp menu - if the player becomes a Ghost, they will also be able to gather Ghostwood, and make ghostwood weapons. Sensitive to solid Iron (goods item) and Iron Golems, resulting in a 25% health decrease, if present. If a solid wooden weapon is wielded, a 10% health increase will result; if a ghostwood weapon is wielded, a 25% health increase will result - these two bonuses will not apply if solid Iron or Iron Golems are present.
~ Fairy characters who are also Ghost characters can enter the Faire directly, via the Underworld Gate in Veidar. Must have Ghostwood, which will be used in the process.
~ "What made you make this decision was... Blindness. (Int+6)" added to character creation. This condition can also be acquired later, randomly on permadeath. Character must struggle with sight issues, during combat, as well as needing at least one other troop in the party to read any book. "Blindness" characters who are also "Seer" characters have a warning rattle if enemies are behind them. "Blindness" characters who are also "Mummer" characters and/or "Troubadour" characters earn more money when putting on mummer shows or playing music for tips, respectively.
~ "What made you make this decision was... Plague. (None)" added to character creation. This condition can also be acquired later, via exposure to Plague Rats, and by wearing The Mask of the Rat King while playing Hymn to Mephistopheles on the world map or for tips...
~ Barely changed the range of items Rea Raider characters can start with, to exclude Entrails, and to include Nog and Blood Pudding.
~ Investigator character messages updated.
~ Butcher's Helper characters generate extra Flesh or Horse Meat via Meat Grinder.
~ Street Urchin characters will now be able to pick pockets via town menus. This comes with the obvious risk of being caught by the town guards. The Garments of Invisibility set makes it possible to pick pockets with impunity for Street Urchin characters.
~ Besom added as a mount and The Book of Thoth added as an artifact. Part of the rewards for a new Seer character storyline.
~ Seer characters who are also Demon Possessed can perform their own exorcism after receiving a Besom from Mopsus - with similarly mixed results.
~ Assassin characters will now be able to create Assassin mercenaries from Mercenary Crossbowmen at the cost of one Cartridge per upgrade. Mercenary Crossbowmen no longer upgrade normally to Assassin mercenaries.
~ Flying Carpet and Maxwell's Silver Hammer added to the game as part of the Pygmalion and Galatea set. Part of one of the new Troubadour storylines.
~ Bloodphone added as a Troubadour instrument. A reward for Troubadours who activate the new faction. New related music track added: "Dirge of the Necropolis".
~ Troubadour characters who have Lamia or Crossbones in their party will be able to play one of two new tracks for money, in scenes, or on the world map: "Weeping of the Widow" or "Dance of the Bones", respectively.
~ Added "Siren Song" track for Troubadour characters. Playable via the Strange Shell.
~ Game Poacher characters gather via the Old Cookbook 25% faster.
~ University Student characters gather via Man Out of Time 25% faster.
~ The whispers that haunt Madness characters now may bear some significance if you listen carefully.
~ Madness characters have random nightmares when staying overnight in a town or castle, or waiting via the camp menu. Nightmares can also occur randomly on permadeath.
~ Random rare chance nightmares will be the Faire instead - for Madness characters, or on permadeath, and until banned from the Faire for breach of fairy taboo.
~ Terror Mask storyline for Demonic Possession characters. Will save your life once, but you will have to wear it from then on until you die, or until you can have an exorcism performed (which may not even work, and may even kill you). The tradeoff is it will watch your back, alerting you to dangers. Also laughs when using the Warcry command.
~ Prophecy characters eventually will face the judgement of The Fates - and face whatever dire consequences they declare! Five different outcomes are possible so far.
~ Poppetmaster storyline for Loss of a Loved One characters who are also Antihero characters.
~ Fortune characters will avoid personal damage if a backfire from using Sapper Charges occurs.
~ Gender swapping is now possible. Ergellon Castle has a white marble altar in it with two snakes on it - if the snakes are attacked and destroyed, just like a training dummy, the character will switch gender. This is cosmetic only, but permanent.
~ Quest for reversing becoming Death Itself added. Must pass the position on to the Forlorn Man.
~ River Styx Pirates added. Spawn at Sea Pirate locations.
~ Tartarus, The Black Pit added to Evil faction.
~ The True Apothecary added to The Cellar of The Four Ways Inn. Has cures for the Black Death, causing the character to become a Ghoul. Also has cures for Porphyria and Lycanthropy. If the character is an Antihero, and they cure Porphyria or Lycanthropy, they may then borrow the Elder Claw or the Bloodletter, or trade either in for the other when they choose.
~ Slayers replace manhunters after the character reaches level 20. Drops Slayer's Amulet: functions like salt and silver at the same time. Also part of the cure for Porphyria or Lycanthropy.
~ Plague Rats added. One per character can be hired for free at the village of Dugan. Ghouls can summon in exchange for Flesh. And Troubadours will randomly summon Plague Rats when using Pegasus and Chrysaor at the same time, playing Hymn to Mephistopheles to earn money in Towns.
~ Mephistopheles added to Chalbek Castle dungeon. He has a gambling game called Muckraker.
~ Demilich added. Must be a Lich character, have the Infinity Stone, 3x Philosopher Stone, 3x Evil Eye, 3x Ouija Board, 3x Prisoners, and suffer a random -1 to Strength or Agility. These troops are meant as effective protection against Werewolves and Vampires for extremely Intelligence and Charisma based characters.
~ Vampires are now sensitive to Salt - this includes the player character, Lamia, and Vampire troops. If Salt, Hand of Glory, Shrunken Head, Strange Shell, Saltpick, Hunter's Moon, Hunter's Stars, Good Bone, Bad Bone, The Great Artificer set, or Poseidon's Trident are present in any inventory in combat, all Vampires start with 50% hit points. Certain locations will also trigger Salt sensitivity, namely Fearichen, Salt Cave, Old Salt Mine, Aldelen, and Ambean.
~ Werewolves are now sensitive to Silver - this includes the player character, Crossbones, and Werewolf troops. If Silver, Bezoar Amulet, Black Ring, Alchemist's Adamant set, The Wolfsbane Pack set, or Maxwell's Silver Hammer are present in any inventory in combat, all Werewolves start with 50% hit points. Certain locations will also trigger Silver sensitivity, namely Curaw Town Center, and The Chamber.
~ Changed inventory for The Raven and The Chrysalis to include a few of the Garments of Invisibility pieces, instead of their previous invisibile equipment pieces. This will make them slightly tougher, and freed up six spaces for items before the item limit is reached (which is important since the item list is getting very long at this point).
~ Imhotep and Galatea added to the game as troops. Related Bloodfountain dialogs added.
~ New advancement method for necromancer leader units:
RANK ~ TROOP > PROMOTION = NEEDED ITEM
Pr ~ Acolyte > Scavenger = Graveyard Soil
Pr ~ Acolyte > Necromancer = Human Corpse
Ad ~ Necromancer > Fleshburner = Oil
Ad ~ Necromancer > Plaguedoctor = Sulphuric Acid
Ad ~ Necromancer > Bloodpreserver = Formaldehyde
Su ~ Fleshburner/Plaguedoctor/Bloodpreserver > Hellraiser = Ouija Board
Su ~ Fleshburner/Plaguedoctor/Bloodpreserver > Shadowlord = Evil Eye
Su ~ Fleshburner/Plaguedoctor/Bloodpreserver > Artificer = Philosopher Stone
~ New faction "Evil" fully added. Hidden until a particular quest is completed for the Bloodfountain or Antihero is achieved. Must also defeat Hades first.
~ Claimant to the throne of the new faction added. Can only be found after new faction is enabled, and if the player is an Antihero.
~ Persephone added as Lady of Evil faction. She has a special dress, and unique face model. For a very special and unique girl, whom I will always adore. My Angel Eyes. <3
~ Entering town centers may result in the player being Pickpocketed for a random sum of denars. Very rarely, and unless the Garments of Invisibility quest is completed, all denars will be pickpocketed.
~ "Check the time" choice added to town and castle menus. This is a way to check the exact time without leaving the town - very useful.
~ Cannot Sell Music, Perform Mummer Shows, or Pickpocket in cities you have sneaked into - when infiltrating a city you cant risk blowing your cover.
~ Cannot Pickpocket or Graverob at castles.
~ Necropolis Tournaments are called Bloodbaths - death is possible and weapons are brutal.
~ Necropolis produces more Crocuses than usual.
~ Temple of Aphrodite added to Narra. Overseen by Pothinus, the Eunuch. Can sell female prisoners for 250 Denars each, or buy Slave Girls for 500 Denars each. Manhunter and Female characters can essentially kill Pothinus (pushing him into a brewing slave rebellion), preventing further exploitation, and filling all the spaces in their party with Slave Girls.
~ Once you have Plague Rats you will be able to choose "Infestation" at Towns and Castles. This will allow you to transfer Plague Rats to the garrison of that city. Every day, there will be a random check for the Main Party (if there are Plague Rats in the Main Party), and for every Town/Castle with Plague Rats in its garrison. There will be a random chance each check that any human troop in that Party will be replaced by Infected Men/Women - there will be the same chance of infection for the player character, if they are not a Ghost, Vampire, Werewolf, Lich, Ghoul, Death Itself, or wearing a Plaguedoctor's Filter. There will also be a random chance each check that each Infected Man/Woman in each Party dies of the Plague, and is removed. If this occurs, there will be one Plague Rats added to the garrison/party.
~ Rat Hunt added to the main menu for any town/castle with Plague Rats in it. They may build up quicker than you can remove them. Ghouls automatically succeed each turn of the Rat Hunt.
~ Add reputation losses due to entering town castle, center, tavern or store scenes, while you have Plague of progress level 4 or higher (mentions nausea), or if you are a Ghoul. Wearing Plague Wraps, Plaguedoctor's Filter, or Alchemist's Riposte will negate plague penalties, and keeping Crocuses in your inventory will negate Ghoul penalties.
~ The Faire added as a "good dream" sequence, and trading game. Must finish before the green fog rolls in. Speak to Thyself first, and he will explain the rules. Talking to the King when you should speak to the Queen, or vice versa, or when you do not have the requested item, or if you have already won, and been sent back to the Thyself, is a breach of taboo, and will result in permanent banishment from the Faire.
