About ready to dive into a Vaegir war to reclaim (a lot of) lost territory from the Nords. I've already turned down offers to be a vassal to the two most powerful Kingdoms: Rhodoks, who some how captured like 1/3rd of the map on the sly, and the Khergit, who basically took over the Sarranids early and have almost completely wiped them out. Then and the bandit Death Squads. Maybe I should have taken the Rhodok offer. But I've been staring at captured Curaw in the middle of the Vaegir territory since the beginning of the game, and it's driving me absolutely batty, so I'm going to do something about it.

I know the larger goal of most M&B games it to become ruler, but I usually find myself trying to restore balance to the map. There's no way in hell I'm going to try and save the Sarranid though, it's a mess down there.

Isn't balance the entire problem with Calradia though?

I didn't claim I was a positive agent of change.

I think you should check out Silverstag. It has the same design philosophy of Floris, and many similar features with some new innovations - and best of all it's still actively developed, since it's a Floris developer who decided to start from scratch, with all his own code, so that he can integrate/innovate things better.
@Silverstag, that regen on kills/hit.  As a scrub player, I am absolutely loving that feature.  I also cheated on a buncha extra stats too.  Most of the faction troop trees are not finished yet...  The troop recruitment is also interesting.  Plus unique troops that can only be picked up from one place kinda deal and that is fine because they are extra special compared to troops of similar level.
A very convenient feature, you can pick quests out from a list rather then getting a random one.

@Floris, apparently 'A New Dawn' is building off of Floris.  That having to meet the village elder/guild master first thing is pretty damn annoying... (I think I always complain about this...)
I guess the good thing for most people is that mega bandit armies can be configured out or toned down, but there are many many other dangerous parties roaming around.

I've noticed in Floris that AI horse archers actually circle around enemies. How do I get my own troops to do this?

I sometimes see settings for A.I. under the "Make Camp" setting on the world map. I think that's what it is called anyway, not sure if that applies to Floris.

Attack orders (F6 or F7, forgot which) -> Skirmish (F5)

Whenever I order them to skirmish, though, most of them retreat from battle even if we're just fighting some looters.

Skirmish is, if I remember correctly, a command that stacks on top of others, and what it does is make the selected group retreat from the enemy once they reach a certain range. It has some use for ranged infantry set to hold a position, because they'll run away from anyone who gets close and return to their original station when their attackers are dealt with, but its best use is, naturally, the horse archers. So what you want to do is have your horse archers in a separate unit group, have them charge, and have them set to skirmish. They'll blitz the enemy and then wheel around them automatically, shooting all the while and actually being useful, unlike the suicidal maniacs pretending to be lancers without skirmishing.

Skirmishing foot archers are really really annoying to hunt down when there is a lot of them, when you and most of your own army is on foot.  It tends to be effective at doing more damage to my army then it has any right to.
Them foot archers are not as effective when facing a large number of mounted having free reign over their arses at the very least.

Also, in the mod settings, for the Floris stuff, I believe there is something that forces mounted troops to use ranged equipment, if they carry any.  It should be on by default anyways.

F***ING HORSE AI!

Now that I'm getting back into the part of the game where there are horses everywhere, I'm remembering the rage they cause. Enemy horses will run in front of your horse to automatically stop it... Ok fine an interesting tactic programmed in. Neutral dismounted horses will frequently run towards you in an attempt to stop you, wtf. AI horsemen will also freaking run in front of you even if it causes them to run into a wall! It's as if they don't want you to get a kill.

That's the reason I tend to play infantry heavy factions (nords, rhodoks) with a small company of elite horsemen, a couple of mounted companions and myself as a mounted build. Khergits are the worst for this and I'm hoping Bannerlord introduces better horse archer AI.

I've been trying to help a claimant rebel, but can't figure out how to get lords to join me. I've gotten people who hate me, don't think we have a good military, and don't think they will be better politically join me. Yet people who really like me, think we have a better military, and think they will be better politically don't. It seems completely random. I even have 6 persuasion!
