based on the way they're installed, I'd say no. They're pretty modular and don't actually install or overwrite main game files.

BUT, the Floris tournament mod is pretty complicated. Did you start a new game or are you playing a game between different mods. There's no telling what kind of save data mods might introduce that could cause bugs.

No I uninstalled Floris and then started playing Pendor. The mod was still installed from when I last played it and I started a new game.

Pendor doesn't let you join tournaments until you're decently renowned. Check the little writeup of the city, if it says something like "There is a tournament on in this city, but all the places are quickly filled by knights with more renown" or something, that's the reason.

I think I'm experiencing a bug. I ask arena masters where tournaments are going to be held, and then I got to those towns, and no tournament. I ask the arena master there where a tournament is being held and he says *insert town we are in here*. I wait and recheck every day but no tournament, however once the arena master mentioned a new tournament while I was waiting for the on that was suppose to appear in town, however the next day both tournaments disappeared. Pretty sure the second tournament should have not of disappeared in one day.

Not sure why this is happening, as nothing but time passed since I last played has changed. Well, unless you count the installing and uninstalling of the Floris mod. Can mods affect other mods?

Tournaments tend not to happen unless the ruler of the fief is there.

Is there a good Mount & Blade Warband mod that doesn't break the game one way or other? I don't really want to deal with one-hit-KO swords and omnipotent bandits thank you very much.

1257 AD is a good mod for that. I'm not sure about the newer version (think bandits are removed all together along with caravans or bandits made really rare as I saw VERY few bandits roaming around and later in the game I saw none at all), but Othr's version I put up...there isn't any OP bandits roaming around or overpowered godlike troops. Weapons are iffy though. Swords are fine. But...javelins are pretty OP, you only get 5 of them (maybe a couple more for a large bag)...but they kinda one hit KO stuff. Fighting a faction like Lithuania is pretty annoying with all the javelins they have. Then you have horse archers which are annoying in any game that make horse archers work properly :P But both are kinda realistic since the mod does aim for realism.

Pretty balanced overall though. Once I saw a mongol lord with 2k troops in his single army...guess that would be a bit OP. But thats pretty rare and random to happen (supposedly can happen in vanilla too), probably more to do with he got lucky getting a bunch of prisoners or something.

The other mod that seems pretty balanced is 16th century that I linked some pages back. Not really any OP troops or items in there as far as I've seen. Its like 1257, made for realism and not really magical god-like units in the game.

I think this was it.

Is it normal for the game to drop frames like they're hot during big battles? I have a fairly beefy rig and it's still slowing down to a crawl.

Depends how big the battles are, also mods factor in HUGELY, along with the amount of cav on the field.

Have you ramped up the battle size? I have a strong laptop, but it's still just a laptop, and I don't get lag unless I've been playing for hours upon hours.

yeah, mount and blade is 32bit if I recall so doesn't really have 64bit performance. Nor does it take advantage of any modern hardware (it is an old game on an old engine)

I get the SAME FPS at 500 battle size (I can't go past that though) with the battle sizer as I do the default 150 battle size.

150 battle size that is default vanilla, I get 30-40 FPS in the biggest battles.

500 battle size, I get 30-37 FPS in the biggest battles...so pretty much the same except a slight drop in max FPS.

Which is actually pretty funny.

Mods, yes. Some of them seem to have large unoptimized textures, combined with more textures in general, can make a massive difference.

Could be the sound system too, i remember reading often that the sound engine could lead to crash in some conditions, especially with mods that add a lot more sounds effects or make them of too high quality.

There's Blood&Steel which... tbh might not fit your criteria exactly, but in a sense that it gives the player the same tools as the AI, more or less. So this mod is kinda like 16th century Calradia (but again, not quite) with a fair mix of melee & gunpowder units. The catch is the units are silly-powerful. Battles are explosive, fast and most importantly, FUN. Enslavement system is reworked a bit, with max prisoner capacity bigger by default and amount of captured people calculated automatically after battle (no more running around clubbing people, hoping to get them high-yield prisoners) and it more or less works. Regular bandits and gameplay is, iirc, more or less akin to vanilla though, so no looter deathstacks right in your face from the beginning. A sort of a cherry on top is hordes of undead that roam the lands. Big, strong hordes. You engage them for fun and profit.

TBH I never played it to a point when I'd experience kingdom vs. kingdom warfare so I have no idea how broken those battles get with new troops. I think I remember something about lords having some ridiculous-sized armies as the time goes on, I mean iirc I saw undead having 1000 troops. But given the carnage your troops (and you!) are able to dish out and also take, I'd say it makes for some fun times. Again, fast and fun. Definitely the complete opposite from my experience with, say, Pendor.

Theeeen again it's been... year(s) since I last played it? No idea how the mod changed in the meantime.

I joined the Polish to fight the Bohemians, and I get drawn into fighting the Hungarians. While sieging a castle, I noticed that my Masterwork Crossbow's Steel Bolts are just plinking off the heads of their low-tier troops, while I'm taking 25+ per arrow. On the easiest settings.

Oh, and the M&B original(not Warband) version of 1257AD does NOT have the switch-to-next-troop thing if you fall, it's the vanilla insta-lose thing where all the other lords fighting alongside you see it and say "HEY GUYS, THE NEW GUY GOT HIT ON THE HEAD, WE LOST THIS BATTLE."

The vanilla version of 1257 AD is outdated, alas. I wish I had Warband for that one mod :)
