I forgot to do castle Garasions add battles outside the wall? You could start a fight outside the castle then pick off a chunk of spearmen.

It really does help. Still scary as all hell though.
Better yet, bring Huscarls.

Or just bring some rhodok Crossbowmen hold fire to make them use their x-box huge board shields and wait for the enemy archers to run out of ammo.
Then just let them shoot away and most of the garrison should be gone.
Repeat when needed.

I heard that one of the previous updates changed it so defenders periodically get refills of ammo. Can't really substantiate it though.

Your archers might not be able to do much against them, but you sure can.
I've gotten pretty good at picking off the enemy archers/crossbowmen with my crossbow.

I find a good tactic in the tower sieges is to run straight up to and against the castle wall, then slowly pick off ones you can see from safety. Then you can back off and give the ones that bend down to look at you an eyeful of arrow/bolt.
If you're fast, there will only be an archer or two left on the walls by the time the tower arrives. Sometimes none at all.

Better yet is the bow and arrow. In default Mount and Blade/Warband the player can be a wrecking force with the bow in seiges and can turn the tide of war. 10 Power Draw and a nice bow and everything becomes your bitch.

Know what's annoying? Sieging a town with 70 or so troops against 300 or so (i.e. more than enough to take it in an attack), but having them sally and repeatly spawn with 4-5 soldiers of your own against 60-70ish.

Day 658, Swadia is STILL STANDING. They can go fuck themselves, 1 castle, 8 lords guarding it, 1000 men... *grumble grumble*

Huh.  Rajesh got his army destroyed, and 1000 denars were taken off of him by the Rhodok army that beat him, but he's still kicking.  I still had lots of money left, so I got a new horse, some new armor, good stuff.  I'm gonna have Rajesh go on some spiritual cleansing, and by spiritual cleansing, I mean, raiding lots of Rhodok villages. 

I'm gonna build up Rajesh's skills, and when he is ready, he will lead an army once again, to purge the land of the green filth that is the Rhodoks.

I never get succesful at convincing other vassals to rebel against their king like me. I even raised my persuasion to 10 by cheating but still nobody joins me. I savescum if they don't join and now I have 4 castles and a city as a one-vassal rebel faction. It's really difficult to keep them safe all by myself. Is this a bug or something?

How high is your "right to rule" stat?
It's pretty hard to build up and you need a lot of it to convince lords to become your vassals.

Yeah, you need a gigantic amount of right to rule to convince other lords.

Even then there's a bunch of other factors depending on the lord. Things like:
- how much they like you relative to their own leader (probably most important)
- your stated reasons for wanting him to join you
- whether you said completely opposite reasons to other lords. They like to gossip apparently.

Usually, when i know a lord that i know is a very good candidate for defecting from his faction to mine, and i am in condition to have some chances to be convincing (persuasion, relationship, hate of his own king, own right to rule, etc...) it's roughly 50% time it's going to be successfull, and 50% it's going to fail.

One thing is that if a lord refuse when you give him a reason to join, the cooldown before he's willing to consider about it again is said to be very long, i don't know how much time though, but possibly a few months, meanwhile he will always refuse until that cooldown period is over.

And be carefull with cheating (as in increasing your stats/level) , from bug reports it looks like cheating your stats/level can break some AI scripts, by example AI nobles never leaving their castles, and who know what other things it can do (could be a part of the persuasion failures too).

I cheat my ass off and I've never noticed anything funny going on about the AI.

After playing the game through 15 to 16 times, it's kinda tedious to go through the whole beginning grind for stuff again when all you want to do is lead 100 crazy vikings on a quest for glory.
