After some thinking, I think I might be able to join in on this from the start (just don't expect my first few turns to be very long)

God:
Ophinon, the primordeal snake.
As the name suggests Ophinon appears in the form of a gigantic snake. According to the myth the snake guarded the primordeal egg, from which the cosmos was born.
Race:
The Gorgons of Naxos
The Gorgons have the upper body of a female human, the lower body of a snake with a rattle that keeps growing their entire life, each time they shed the skin of their lower body, and the most striking feature, instead of hair, they have dozens of snakes growing out of their skull.
Those snakes are not very venomous, only causing swelling and irritation. Unless of course you are allergic, or get bitten in a way that causes your throat to swell, in which case you might want to console the nearest doctor immediatly.
The Gorgons of Naxos are organized in a semi-plutarchic organisation of city states.
The city states themselves are ruled over by a counsil of freely voted gorgons. The more money you own, the heavier your vote counts.
The counsils have to report to a superior organisation, the sisterhood of Naxos, which literaly consists of the queen and her sisters.
Gorgons have no males, and thus do not produce sexualy. Rather, each family grows by taking a pregnant snake, petrifying it, and chiseling the unborn eggs from the snake. These eyes will then give birth to gorgons.
the gaze of the gorgon:
the gorgons power to turn lifing beings into rock with a mere gaze depends on many factors. Those include the individual power and skill of the gorgon, the resistance, both in willpower and aquired through exposure, of the victim, as well as other factors, like filtering the gaze through glass, distance etc.
for example a very powerful gorgon can turn dozens of weak and scared humans into stone in seconds.
likewise a weak and inexperienced gorgon could stare at a true hero for hours and fail to petrify him.
even if you manage to resist the gaze, the experience is very painful and exhausting.
Gorgons are immune to the gaze. The ability is not passive, and has to be actively willed by the gorgon. whent hat happens, a cone of green light can be seen emitting from their eyes. the victim in question will be save, as long this light does not fall upon his eyes, but should he out of carelessness be only caught by it for a split second, the hypnotic power of the gaze will literaly glue his eyes to the eyes of the gorgon, and a lot of willpower is required to avert it again.
the effect of the gaze can be lifted with a common artifact among the gorgons, the golden needle.
chimerology:
exploiting the power of their gaze and the golden needle, it has become quite popular to act as a "mason", splitting several petrified victims into their parts, and assembling them to the form of a chimera, which is then brought to live through the golden needle. Doing so causes extrem damage to the souls of the victims, usually erasing each bit of personality and higher thought.
military:
as the gaze is the gorgons main tool for combat and hunt, and a quite powerful one at that, swordsmanship has little to no tradition amongst the gorgons, and only the fewest are able to wield weapons proficently. Likewise, gorgon armor is not the thickest either.
The close-combat bulk of gorgon armies are usualy compromised out of war-chimeras.
despite their relative ineptness at actual combat, their strategic ability is to be feared, as it will make sure that entire enemy armies will turn into statue gardens before they know what hit them.
