I've only met one of those. Wasn't so bad ... it was 4 and a half years into my fortress. It came simultaneously as an elven ambush and a goblin siege. It killed a fisherdwarf far outside and entered the fort by destroying a chert wall grate. It was slain by three legendary hammerdwarves but managed to cause some more damage. It set my carpenter's workshop on fire and destroyed numerous bins and barrels in the process. (frustrating since i was short on them and wood)

How did your encounter end?
