I might join you for a game. Would be fun.

Off to the doctor for the moment though.

Is this still reasonably active?  I might be interested in joining, although it's been a hella long time since I've played MTG

It's only dead in the sense of my tournament system, managing that was just too much.
If people continue to show up in the hamachi network and play games though, you guys will still have plenty of fun.

Alright, I'll join.  If we're not doing tournaments, how do decks work?

Aww, that's a shame. I like the idea of good cards being scarce, but based on participation rather than money. My problem with the game IRL is that it's a TCG, so that scarcity is based upon how much money you're willing to sink into the hobby. Aside from disagreeing with that on an ethical level, I just don't have any money to spend on it. Playing in a post-scarcity environment really breaks the hell out of the game, because there's no metagame to play against. All the one-turn-kill decks start showing up and you've got to search far and wide to find someone willing to make a gentlemen's agreement and play block standard or something.

There were rules drawn up for receiving a deck, we could try to make decks for each other if the host is unhappy with making them.

I am on Hamachi now, sorry if I was late, I think I got confused about the times involved or something...

Yeah, lemme hunt down that post, it is in here somewhere...

I'll put it on the first post.

EDIT: I still think we could do this:
What if we switched gears into a daily thing, I could organize it as a sort of sealed tournament, with boosters pre-organized and handed out to people as they show up. Points, the current tournament, and the need to assemble boosters on request would become obsolete.(although I will still assemble some)

Bam, zombify. Thread is brought back onto the battlefield.

So I think I'm pretty into magic now. After some extensive practicing with the Duels of the Planeswalkers videogame for the Xbox 360, I've fixed my speed problem, and I can now think of strategy and perform actions on the fly. I've also unlocked the outfit rewards for my little Xbox avatar for unlocking enough cards in the game.

Anyway, I have a little group of friends that I've been able to play with every now and then, and because of them, I've given in and bought some additions to my card collection: the Duels of the Planewalkers "Teeth of the Predator" deck, which give me some nice big creatures, as well as Vigor, a nice Elemental Incarnation that makes all my creatures undamageable, and very big in the process. I also bought the green archenemy deck, giving me the included deck and 20 archenemy cards.

Taking the two decks, I mish-mashed the cards with my other green cards, and I've made what I like to think is a very formidable green deck. My much more experienced friend has alot of trouble beating me, and has referred to me as one of the best green players he's ever met, which I think is very flattering.

Also, my other friend bought alot of zombie decks, including the black archenemy deck with it's accompanying 20 archenemy cards, and he did something similar with his Mish-Mash. He refers to himself as the zombie king, and is very fun to play with.

Also, I made my first successful card trade, which I think has benefitted my green deck immensely. I traded a Verdeloth the Ancient and a Bad moon for another Vigor and 2 Wild Pairs. Very happy.

I'm extremely speed and creature oriented, and with my new wild pairs, this exacerbates my deck's specialty. While there are only a few noncreature spells in my deck, I've carefully selected all my creatures to have abilities that serve useful purposes or that can combo into eachother for devastating effect. I've very happy with it.

So, eh, the new Mirrodin stuff is coming out. I don't know if anyone still cares about this though.

I like reading the preview articles in the serious fun archive:

There was apparently some sort of sponsored contest heralding the new release:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fQCtycvdXkU&feature=sub

It looked really nifty, but it struck me as the company taking something that's already very nerdy, and making it even nerdier.

I mean, I'm a pretty nerdy person, but that was too much even for me.
