Pinning you down on your bed and asking when you're going to ask her to go steady.

 ;D

It worked for my wife.  :D

Wait, so how long did you keep her waiting?

We'd been on a couple of dates. Maybe two, three months.

Granted, we'd already hit most of the bases by that point (and as each-others firsts, no less) so not that surprising I guess. I suppose she wanted to tie me down in case I thought about wandering off.  :D

God I love that woman.  ;D

Just get her whatever feels right and don't chicken out on telling her how you feel soon. There's no point in dragging out the miserable in-between not-knowing stage. Get rejected? You'll get over it & find another. Trust me, the worst part is not knowing.

Just keep being yourself and improving your own self image and the right girl will come along and accept you for who you are.

Speaking of which, my girl sent me a chibified cthulhu thing for v-day; it already arrived in a huge box. I'm getting her a ginormous bouquet of roses/lilies for her to cart around school, "Spirited Away", and a mix cd of music she would love but doesn't know about.

Those things are all personal from-the-heart things, you cannot go wrong with that if you truly love someone (not just like)

a kick in the teeth, always works for me.

on a more serous note, imo taking people out places is usually more useful than buying them crap

I haven't been able to get any vomit this release. Not any I can pick up, at any rate.
Swans, too. Swans are complete bastards.

Later, you can be really romantic later by figuring out how to make the damn plant bloom in winter, and surprising her with it.

(expose it to winter cold)

Look if you're interested in this girl you need to just be direct with her.  If you want a romantic/sexual thing with this girl, you need to be straightforward about it.  Giving weird neutered gifts on a day where you have a great opportunity to send some clear signals is a terrible idea.

Jude's totally right. But just for the hell of it I'll give you a few examples of overly obvious things a girl can say that is becoming too interested too quickly. Keep in mind that these were said within a week of meeting said girl, without going out on any actual dates.

"You'll love my mom", "...telling my parents about you so when you meet my family..."

We're building a bonfire and shooting off fireworks in the woods for New Year's Eve. "Oh, be careful! Singed eyebrows are not cute."

Yea, lame, I know. Even very intelligent people say silly things when they're attracted to someone. She repeatedly said "that's kindve cute actually" or "attractive" in place of cute in completely mundane conversations. "Endearing" a couple of times.

Taken together, that is an illustration of what "Major Hints" means.

Among many other things. But again, if you have to ask, then it wasn't a major hint.

If your Valentines went wrong it's because you didn't send her a Pajamagram, obviously.

I picked out the teddy bear in lingerie for my 'gram. Cute, too funny/quirky to be taken as an inappropriate hint.

Skip the comments like "nothing can't be taken the wrong way"; we don't need 200 people to state the obvious. Let's just allow generalizations like "people I go out with have a sense of humor". Ah, 3 sentences I wouldn't have to type if it weren't for forum behavior.

Everyone should have given their loved ones herpes for Valentines.

I thought about it. My girlfriend thought it was cute.
