The main thing that makes things crazy powerful is technology increase. At high enough tech level the basic fighter design becomes a star destroyer.

i just found two enemy battle fleets

Bugger me side ways with a flag pole...

they've both got more than 20 size 130 (bigger than a planet) size ships, and i thought my size 30s were big. Ontop of that they ve both got loads of dreadnaughts and captial ships. Both fleets are duking it out over one system, they keep sending in more waves, the system is loaded with drifting hulks.

I currently control half the galaxy, and have started mass commissioning size 150 ships.

also ive experiemented with lasers and decided they suck, i get the best results out of missile racks, due the range, sheilds are also very useful.

Screw size 150 ships. those are my "small" ships. I currently possess three Thunderstriker class worldships. At size 500, their shields brush off hits from planetary cannons. One of them obliterated half of an enemy fleet in one salvo.

Trust me. No kill like overkill, especially huge ships like those.

I started bulding a huge star size ship 3500, its been going about an hour and only reached 77%, its slowed right down in the last 15mins tho

stupid question: how do you win this game. Ive taken 90% of the galaxy eliminated all my enemies planets and have one group im at peace with occupying the last few systems.

Do i have to hunt down every single enemy ship? there wont be many but unless theres a search function finding the last few is going to be a bugger. Do i have to exterminate all other species?

it seems in this game theres always and bigger ship,

you create a ship and call it leviathon and later realise it is only a mouse

In most RTS games being gunshy cost me more victories than anything else...

New patch out. Also, nice topic number. 1337 patch ahoy! Hopefully this fixes the problems I had earlier.

alright ive checked on the games forums, currently there are no victory conditions, the game just gos, on, so sort a like another game i know.

p.s. does the ai ever build any non standard ships, and does it build ships over 130 in size? My 500s destroy anything they pitch up, makes the game a bit easy.

so far ive only played a level 3/5 ai, maybe the 5/5 does.

AI only builds the designs that were premade for them. If you want them to build more designs you'll have to mod them in. They are in Game Data\Script Data\Layouts.

They do have designs over size 130. I'm not sure what triggers them building what, but they have a ship size 6000 and a really weird one thats size 7200 in the design list.

I have found a love like no other: shielded, computer controlled .1 scale drone fighters with beam weapons. They have a 11 acceleration and around 900 hitpoints total each with relatively low tech scores; my dream of building scores of (almost) self replicating, all consuming technological ships leading to a singularity has been realized (even if most of it is RPing in my head, as far as design choices and backstory)

No ship limit right?

Interesting.

Reading this thread and then watching the trailer on the website which I hadn't seen before for some reason just made me wish for a TV space opera like this.  Maybe I'll go watch some EVE online trailers.

So just to be clear, with the current build of the game each empire can only use one game model for all their different ship types?  Not that that would stop me from playing, but it would put a bit of a damper on the machinima potential.
