Could I have a copy of your log.txt?

Also, if you're on Win7/Vista and haven't done so recently, I would recommend grabbing the latest updates for your OS as this has resolved I believe this specific problem in the past.

The demo doesn't crash, hang, or have other problems on our machines so we need y'all's minidumps and logs to debug the game.

Please upload your minidumps on our forums so we have the opportunity to diagnose your problem if possible.

Also, if you can provide a save where the game crashes reliably after the game is loaded from that save, that would be absolutely wonderful as we could 'walk through' the crash.

I'll set the autosave to every ten minutes or so. How/where would I find the minidump? And where's the Log.txt file located at (in general; I downloaded from Impulse.)

Gara-Nis:
Well I wasn't expecting much from the normal run-through but I guess it's not going to be nice and tell me the problem.  Let's try something more thorough.
(Edit: It seems you've already figured out how to turn on Verbose :p)
If you're playing the demo through Steam:
* Right click on the demo, do Set Launch Options and put in it: -verbose
* Click OK and run the demo.

If you're not playing the demo through Steam:
* Right click on the game's executable and do Create Shortcut
* Open the properties dialog box on the new shortcut and in the Target box add -verbose to the end of the link
(It should look something like "X:\Program Files\Star Ruler\StarRuler.exe" -verbose)
* Click OK and run the game through the shortcut.

Please post the log when you've done that.  If that doesn't reveal any information then your graphics card is encountering some sort of internal error and the game doesn't have any idea anything wrong is happening.  We'll still attempt to diagnose but at that point unfortunately we won't have any more information with which to find the source of your issue.

Edit:  I don't see much wrong from the log but I may not be on the latest nVidia drivers on my rig.  I'm running a 9800 GSO fatal1ty edition over here and I think I last updated in August.  I'll update to the latest drivers and see if I can confirm your issue.  If I can, it's unfortunately a driver problem; if I can't then unfortunately we're back to Square One.

The minidump should be accessible through the User Files link in the game's main directory; it will be called (name-date-time).mdmp.  I believe for Impulse the game will be downloaded to the folder Indie Games in Program Files ( I could be mistaken, of course. )

My Log.txt; has some issues at the end. The minidump didn't show up despite the crash, however.

Astral: Yeah, those are out-of-bounds errors caused by threading in 1.0.1.2's planet window.  It's been resolved in the internal build that should be coming out soon; sorry about that.

It's a work in progress, really unique game for the asking price and the epic scale of it. Not a problem  :D

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

had another crack at this game (too much stalker), just updated to latest patch

played an hour, actually found some enemies, sent an invasion fleet of 10 dreadnaughts (some custom designed with lasers but essentially deads) they flew into the frikken plant and came out of the other side, for then 7 of them to get boshed by what i assume was the planetary cannon.

Whats a normal size invasion fleet in this game?

also if you tell colonisers to colonise a star they fly into it then continually bump into it for a while before selecting a planet

I usually have about 30-50 ships in an invasion fleet. The smaller ships (size 10 and below) generally get 1 shotted by planetary cannons, so you need quite a few ships to take down the cannon. That, or a few really big ships with heavy armor.(size 100 and above)

Also, don't tell colony ships to colonize a system. Just right click on the system and use "auto-colonize system". Any idle colony ships will automatically start going to colonize any available planets.

I guess I just enjoy overkill, because I always send hundreds of ships.

advice taken, ive built several hundred size 18 ships fully decked out with weapons armour sheilds computer core and antimatter power.

This game is pretty epic, and pretty viral. Hundreds of the blighters decend on a system and consume all in sight.

I assume theres still alot of dev to be done on the ai as so far its not retailated and its standard defence fleet is 1 capitalship + 2-4 dreads or cruisers. They have little no chance vs my 80-200 monitors.

ive started constructing planet size ships too now.

Is there anylimit on the number of ships you can build? Presumably you must run out of raw mass at some point if your building things as big as planets.

edit: also does the multiplayer work? If so we should get some conflict going.

Theres no limit. The game scales pretty ridiculously. You can build ships larger than your entire galaxy.

and if you do make them that big, even flak cannons become Uberpowered because the weapons scale too.
