Can i download a game on one computer and install it on another one?

Yes, you can.

1) Copy the download file and the temp folder as they are located near each other
2) Paste on another computer that has connection to the internet
3) Run the download file and fill in the login/password if necessary
4) The installation process will start automatically, if the temporary folder is in place, since it will find the install files.

NOTE: Internet connection is required for performing the installation process. Installation cannot be made manually. It is done automatically and it requires internet connection to be performed properly.

this was my experience. I tried installing it on a flash drive then plugging the flash into my gaming pc but it wouldnt work. Initially you just down load a link file. clicking that allows u to download the full game, but it doesnt give u a set up file (as far as i can tell) it just installs it.

Ah, I guess I just kinda got around that. When it goes to install the file in the temp folder turns into an executable. I've taken to just saving the executable for quick reinstalls since the link file always messes up for me.

managed to distract my self from stalker for a proper game of this

played an hour, colonised a third of the galaxy, havnt found any of my opponents yet, which i find supprising.

Either:
they havent colonised particullarly quickly, which supprises me because im only on my first play through and not uber efficient.
they are in other galaxies. I didnt think the other galaxies were anything more than backdrop until i accidently zoomed on one. I cant see any stars or interact but perhaps that changes

they are just beyond the borders of my space and the areas ive explored.

i havnt had any conflict yet, but this game seems to be quite fast, ive got a fair bit of tech so my ships move between systems quickly, also i could potentially build a massive fleet. im not aware of there being any caps on fleet building are there any? e.g. do you pay maintainence resources. So im wondering whether i should build a massive fleet. I control about 30 stars, each with 2-6 planets average 3or4. Each can churn outa capital shp in less than a minute. So i could have several thousand ships in no time.

So my question is how big are the battles, are they sort of 1000 vs 1000 scale? in most other space stratgies even the real time ones, its usually i the tens or hundreds.

also do built ships auto refit? Some of the ships i built are now quite old and ive got a lot of new tech. Will they just be old and lame?

theres alot of extra stuff to put in ships now, and ive just realised you can make a hull the size of a sun...

Each can churn outa capital shp in less than a minute.
Then they arent capital ships.

I got the game!

I realized that disbanding fleets crashes the game, that big ships are really big, and that I haven't fought with somebody yet. I need smaller galaxies.

No, you don't need smaller galaxies. You need bigger ships.

My buddy got it. We walked through the tutorial, realizing that we need a few more hours to read descriptions for all the buildings, available ship parts, etc to get a idea what can we do at the begining. I also do not like the end of the tutorial - it shows you the controls and throws in the water. We had this weird feeling "what now?".

One question - does positioning of modules on ship build screen have any effect? The tutorial does not say...

I will wait until he gets more in the game and shows me how it feels.

There isn't much beyond the tutorial at the moment. Build ships. Build buildings. Don't bother trading. And...no more than that.

Yeah... is there inter-system trading yet? It doesn't seem like haulers like to go system-to-system.

Haulers are useless anyway. Just research and upgrade your starports. They trade so quickly that haulers are useless. If you want a mega ship building world fill it with nothing but starports and shipyards and you can build mega ships in seconds.

Yeah once I have 3-5 other worlds established I tend to strip my homeworld of everything and rebuild it full of starports. It becomes Fleet HQ where all my ships are built.

This game is amazing. I liked Gratuitous Space Battles for the ship customization, but this adds the strategic element back to it. And it feels alot less like a Warcraft 3 clone (like Sins of a Solar Empire did; great game either way) than it does a space empire on a massive scale.

If anyone's been waiting for the next update, 1.0.1.0 is now out. The AI bugs have been fixed enough that it can actually do something now.
