This ship is consuming the entire industrial output of 25 worlds. It is now 7% complete.
is it a warship?

Well, as much of a warship as my primitive technological level could make. It has a layer of armor thicker than the crust of a planet and railguns all over its surface, with smaller flak cannon for shooting down fighters and such. It now has 33 planets feeding resources into it, mostly the 1.13 million high-tech parts it requires (In addition to the 2.03 million electronics, 13.5 million metals and 504,000 units of labor.)

I also have a fleet of 30 haulers bringing resources to the planet, though their contribution is tiny in comparison to the abstracted amount coming through the space port from other worlds. -shrug-

Its a first run and I am doing something crazy to test the game.

Figured out how spaceports actually work, sunk some research into economics to increase the up/down flow from my empire's resource pool, and now we're cooking. 15%!

I have almost 1/4 of the electronics in place and a goof 1/3 of the high-tech material. Labor is still an issue...

Well, the developers ran into a financial situation which forced them to make a decision; Release the game and use the revenue from sales to continue development or bankrupt and never release at all.

Obviously, they chose to release.

That's disheartening. They certainly aren't going to make much without some minor advertising or at least some better video footage of actual gameplay that could go viral on youtube or something.

I agree, its not the best situation.

Edit: And to make matters worse, the distributors (Gamersgate and Direct 2 Drive) released the wrong version. Both retailers released an earlier beta build rather than the newest build they had sent over as retail. The team is reacting very quickly and calmly, helping people with problems and offering suggestions and workarounds to bugs they had already fixed, but it has to be frustrating.

Ive looked at the requirements and they look fairly reasonable, I think the game is worth a try.

To the developers credit, they have expressed an intention to continue adding and bugfixing the game. Most games are released when the developers feel like it and if its not good enough, tough shit. This company I think are worth supporting. Even if the game isnt entirely complete, It seems to me a very decent game, maybe the best of its kind since Master of Orion, and the company are true game builders not simply money making monsters.

Ill buy this, and when I do ill do an extensive AAr to show what its like. Probably at the end of this week.

*oh and forsaken1111, keep up the comments :D we are all intrigued by this planet ship. I personally think some alien race will come squash you when its 99% done  :D

I have to say I'm impressed that they built this game with a two-man team. Everything about the game is moddable, right down to reskinning and reworking the interface and the scale of the game is amazing.

They aren't kidding when they say the only limit on how many star systems you can have is the computer you run it on... and they are already talking about all the features they will be adding to the game for free over the coming months, like the generation of multiple galaxies.

I bought this from gamersgate on speculation. I'll post my opinion tonight if anyone cares.

I might if my desktop was still alive.  I think I need a new motherboard but of course there's nowhere convenient to buy one around here.
