I'm sure it'd be enjoyable if one were to keep their head somewhat hidden under the sand when it comes to all of the plotholes, and really I'm trying my hardest to reserve judgement for the actual RP quality that the game can give me. My current character application consists of a cyborg, which is kinda cool, though I have absolutely no idea how cybernetic augmentation is feasible to the common populace if new players are supposed to be immigrants to some shitty backwater scumville where only the upper crust get to witness technology more advanced than light bulbs.

Still, like you say, I'd prefer it if it were still set in a messed up ship where I'm doing people in with a claw hammer.

I'll have to make an account and check out the changes.

Can't say I'm excited about the lack of spaceship though..

EDIT: Judging by the forums and articles, it seems as if it is half as interesting and unique as it was...still will make an account and try it out though.

Okay, I have to concede that it seems to be largely held together by handwavium and McGuffinite.

Edit: What the heck is this thing?

I've been accepted, though the server immediately died as soon as I was about to enter the IC world.

Hokay, - finally got the application processed. Apparently they're not very picky about backgrounds.

Slooowly trying to figure out how the shop system works, uphill battle there. And now I was informed I can not change clothes or armor without admin assistance.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
which begs the question as to what Armorcrafting actually does.

And now I am wrestling with a god damn bag.

The bag has yielded to my superior masculinity and given me my clothes back...
...I'm sure someone is very proud of the poker chip currency system, but it's a god damn pain in the ass when you're simply trying to outfit yourself from a ooc area store...

edit: Definately not getting any sci-fi vibes... Hell if I wasn't informed prior I'd just assumed I was in some backwater postapoc town on earth.

Are you the unkempt haired guy? Happen to spot a wire veined cyborg wearing a tri corn hat walk past at any point per chance?

EDIT:

Sweet jesus I just bought a drum barelled 50 caliber sniper rifle.

First impressions:

A maze of twisty ruined streets filled with trash, all alike.

Yannow, after the initial frustrations with the controls, it's not a bad game. I've yet to try out combat, and I doubt I'll enjoy it much. But on the whole, ramshackled setting notwhithstanding, it's not all that bad... As long as I ignore Earth hanging over my head most of the time.

On a unrelated note: Are there any gasmasks at all in this game? After reading Apocalypticly Romantic, Gone with the blastwave, post-nuke and playing Metro 2020 I can't but feel the need to wear a gasmask in post-apoc settings.

I'm quite enjoying it. The code is very solid but the atmosphere, as stated about 20 million times before, leaves quite a few things to be desired. However, I'll take that with a pinch of sugar because this MUD is barely over a year old.

Also, I'm a gunslinging ninja cyborg pirate.

Err,

SimpleMU, Pueblo UE and MushClient are among the most popular, I believe.

I read the first page, not noticing the date.

Then I read the last pages. :(

Why did they change the setting like that?

Hey, for you guys who are confused about the transition for spaceship, as I understand it, the moon had ALREADY been colonized before the survivors on the ship smashed into it. The crash brought them into an already existing society...

...I think.
