Stone Smoothing
« on: January 30, 2010, 06:03:21 pm »

This post is labelled D for Dwarf  ;)

I think I've figured out how dwarves smooth stone walls without using a tool.
I believe that by making a rapid chin-wagging motion, their beards act like a scouring pad, or power-sander.
Thus, legendary engravers gain a stat increase, as the motion builds stamina and jaw strength! ;D

I always thought they used their bear hands.

I always thought they used chisels that were abstracted away so you wouldn't have to micromanage tools, which is very important since dwarves don't have pockets (yet) and can only carry one object at a time.

I think they have cat tongues and lick it smooth.

Also why they never have to take a bath.

They have no tools. They must be using their beards.

Or shuffling around really quickly to wear it down.

Elves do it in trees. Humans do it in wooden structures. Dwarves? Dwarves do it underground. With magma.

I wonder if there will ever be the need for a generic "[material] tool set" item to be used. It could encompass many things, and masterwork tools would help improve the quality of things made... but it would be a pain to keep track of perhaps...

Well, their beards MUST be like steel wool with all that booze.

Of course, the closest thing TO steel wool is clownite strands. That'd smooth floors a treat.
