I agree heartily to the above suggestions.

What we also need: Place Building. Free siege engines, traps, walls, and fortifications. It would also make it so much easier to practice epic deathtraps, dwarven computing, etc., though that isn't the  central point.

It only lets you place adults, from the look of it.

can you inport adventures stat and gear?
If by "inport" you mean change a creature's skill levels and gear up dwarves/goblins/elves/kobolds, I'm pretty sure you can.

Yeah, you can do that, but you can't import them directly.  I don't think you can customize names either.

We need to be able to save arena mode instances as their own save files too!

Ah, nah, you can't do anything like that.  The arena mode will only grow in power though, and should eventually support buildings and other things like temperature control (which I thought I'd get to but didn't), as well as some save/load capability for maps.  Right now, it is very bare.

Can you control special abilities? I'd love to play as a dragon vs an army of elves to see how many I can scorch before I get killed.

I can imagine playing a game of DF Archon using this function. That can get pretty interesting.

Arena mode will only get better as more features are added to it, and as mods are created.

Massive Warhammer or Legendary Lands battles anyone? :D

See how many goblins it takes to bring down a Freezing Wind! (Thousands??)

Vs Sephiroth Hair... Who fails to rob people and break their bones... Probably he's a mailman's offspring and Cpt.Awesome is infertile :P.

can we place terrain other than water or magma?

Can we import the terrain from one of our forts and have the battle occur there?
