I beat you.

WExtreme.wwl   5.7   5.800 GB   26-07-2011 15:06

Current time as of posting:            26-07-2011 20:16

EDIT: I actually have ALL of the highest level software, not just the wwl.

EDIT2: The reason I beat you was because the upload speed on the NPCs are only so high. I was maxing the upload on all of them, which sort of shows that higher internet speeds are only so effective.

Yes, my connection speed is 167936 Kb/s download, 41984 Kb/s upload, but I never saw any npc system even remotely close to those numbers. Curiously, it appears that when doing concurrent downloads from different systems, the speed of each download is reduced even if the total downoad rate is below one's total.

Anyway, so...what's left to do? Have max hardware, have max level software...I guess just muck about and leave ascii pictures of cats on people's machines? Or delete them, I suppose.

You've hit the point where I stopped playing. Congrats.

Anything Bay12-specific that would be useful to me?

 * Some of us have been putting bay12.txt files on our local drives to identify ourselves to each other to prevent unfortunate accidents.  Whether this is a good idea is debatable. A few pages back some people wre saying they were installing virus on b12er systems anyway, since it doesn't hurt them. Which is probably true. So, it's mostly to stop fellow b12ers who might be inclined to delete all your software. I suppose, just ask yourself whether you think it's more likely that a b12er would delete you if you aren't one, or somebody else might delete you for being one.

 * PM Talfryn for access to our IRC channel.

 * I've heard unconfirmed rumor that we have our own gateway server. I've yet to be told by anyone that they actually know the IP for it.

OK, I finally decoded an empty.txt, supposedly a bank account number.
In it is 2 six digit numbers + a bank IP
Something like 111111+222222=333.444.555.666
But when I try 111111 or 222222 or their sum 333333 as an account number, it says invalid.  It should be 333333 right?
Is it invalid because possibly it sat in my directory too long and someone else decoded it and grabbed it?
And about how much would/should it have been worth?   And I'd still have to crack the account right?

So am I the only one still playing, but wondering why?

Max hardware. Max software. Bunch of slaves. Collecting income. I've deleted people. There just doesn't seem to be much to do or point in doing anything. No apparent groups to join or fight. Not much contact with people at all. I suppose I could start randomly DDoSing people, but it's difficult to feel terribly motivated to destroy hardware of people I don't know, have no contact with, and who will inevitably change their IP and thus once again disappear into the endless sea of anonymity as soon as they notice.

What's the point of this game again?

Well, I play, but right now I am going through issues in my life so time on the computer is limited.

LB: Excellent, you should spend the freed time working on Bubblgum Crisis! :D

But yea, I am rapidly losing interest too - it was sort of fun for a few days  but I'm getting tired of the grind.  And the post-buildup where the main things to do seems to be fighting via ddos people - eh.  The clue trail is a plus, but not enough to keep me drawn in.  There's elements of a decent game here but something is definitely missing.

I started in hackwars too and it's got its own problems - not least of which is broadcasting your "keep this secret at all costs" unchangeable IP address to the world for having the effrontery of playing hard for more than 10 minutes.

Oh well, maybe I'll fire up Decker again to get some haxxing in :(

You realise thay this thread is in the first page when you search "slavehack" on google?
And that everyone on the internet knows your Ip now?

Take it down.
Change it.
Hope that you don't get nuked while you do that.
