Why not just set up a Group server? What's wrong with doing it? What advantages does it give other than giving us a sense of being together, as Bay12ers?

Group servers have the added ability to allow you to upload files for the group (or hackers that get into your GS) to use.

Stop trying to guilt trip/antagonize/convince Talf. He won't budge. He is that awesome. (Also, don't try to compliment Talf to try to get a GS)

Same reason Mono said. IRC is just chatting, doesn't make the game too much easier or harder. GS, free storage and files.
