Y'know just so people know, sometimes it's a fair bit of work to grow a beard that looks good. Generally speaking, the stache is the hardest part to get really right. I certainly haven't mastered it, but if you're growing a full beard keep in mind that the 'stache may not really come in for 6-12 months, and you certainly shouldn't trim it before then.

Of course, know thyself. Beards are unique, and you have to play them to your advantage. Please remember that a neck beard without at least some fluff on your cheeks is absolutely hideous and should be shaved, don't half-ass it either and give yourself a pencil-thin douchebag beard. Another option for the cheek-fluff-challenged is the goatee. NO, it doesn't have to connect to your 'stache, but you really have to nurture it and keep it trim. These days, unless your magnificent (which doesn't usually occur before twelve months of growth) you should probably avoid having JUST a moustache.

Finally, to conclude this facial hair PSA, keep in mind you can make wispy beards look good, you just have to keep them trim, and let them grow long enough to really fill in the beard shape!
