Is it sad that I've never seen real snow in-person?

It means you live in a subtropical/tropical climate. Which is in and of itself very, very sad.

I haven't snow either...

Coming from someone who's never seen snow...

I have seen snow and envy technicallyAdventurer and David.

The first time you see snow you think "That's so pretty!"

After that, it is nothing but miserable.

Go watch a video of it, that's all the good you will ever receive from snow.

Too much work, only useful if you have a snowball fight.

I like snow, actually, as long as I don't have to drive a few hundred kilometres trough it. Then again, I've never been bothered by cold. We had some awesome snowmen when we were kids, even built an igloo once during an especially cold winter.

Random thought: One winter, I will try making a few snowballs and putting them in the freezer for summer.

Winter was the best thing ever as a kid. We used to work all winter long building these massive forts and have sieges with them.
And sliding down icy hills on a flimsy piece of plastic was extremely fun.
I pity anyone who grew up without snow.


It sucks as an adult though, just cold slippery heavy and wet.

You'd speak differently if you had to bring in carts of wood constantly so you don't die of hypothermia and drive through car-dragging mud to get to work.

Nope. Still better than heatstroke, a host of wonderful insect-borne diseases, constant humidity, &c.

You can pile on clothes and heat for much longer and to a much higher degree than you can take off clothes and cool yourself down.

Also, if we're talking about pre-modern conditions with wood fires, uninsulated buildings, and unpaved roads... I'd still rather live in the cold because, again, pre-modern = no malaria vaccine and poor understanding of heat-related illness combined with the aforementioned difference between how easy it is to cool down vs. how easy it is to warm up.

It's livable. With good air conditioning. And if it's a dry heat. If it's humid then it would be my personal hell and I'd never go outside.
