Apparently people keep mistaking me for a girl IRL when I have my hood on. I am confus.

I can see where they're getting that idea... But to be honest I've always had trouble with determining gender in difficult cases with people of Asian descent.
Oooh, question: How easy/hard is it for you to keep apart people of a different ethnicity than yours? I've got a friend - Vietnamese, but grew up in Berlin - who apparently confused two girls in our semester that didn't look even remotely similar. He later told me that this had been a minor problem for him for quite some time...

I have that problem. I think it's normal if you don't try hard to fix it. I'm Caucasian, so my white differentiation is good, and my south/central American is better than my African differentiation, but not by a whole lot. Sadly, my Asian leaves something to be desired.

Being Russian (some people even say my face is extremely russian) I can differ europeoids with ease, as well as Caucasians - I live in Moscow where there are plenty of them. Not like I've seen a lot of Asians, but I think I'd manage to differ Korean, Chinese and Japanese (thanks to the fact they often visit our lyceum in summer schools). Black folks... their faces have some specific features comparing to europeoids, but recognizable.

(And yeah, it's fascinating how different poeple from different African regions look. I heard somewhere Africa is by far the most genetically diverse region on our planet.)
