I know, I know, but they just wobble back and forth on the floor, waving their feeble little legs at you as though wheezing out, begging you, "Help me... please... help me... oh god the pain... please, help..." But there's nothing I can do. There's never anything I can do to help them. :'( And they always squish ickily under your feet if you accidentally step on them.

I think I read somewhere once that insects have a brain too small to fail pain... They know something is wrong, they just don't feel bad about it.
What you call a june beetle evolves into our meikever/maybug, I think.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

An ancient (Belgian?) pastime is tying thin threads to their legs and watching them fly rounds until they starve. We're a jolly people.
(The official english name is cockchafer, apparently. I'm going to stick with maybug.)

I found my Renaissance Festival pictures from my old HD! I'm not actually in any of these, but I figure they're neat enough to share.

That's the RenFest in... Holly, Michigan, correct? I went there once. It was good fun.

If so, it's August 17-September 29, open on weekends.

And goddamn some of the things in these theme weeks sound fun/hilarious/awesome from the one-line description. Now I'm kinda sad that I won't be around for almost all of it.

Damn.

So... they could have just said "weapons", but they chose to list a bunch of specific weapons instead.  Does that mean the many they didn't list are allowed?  Like any kind of sword other than a claymore?

Pistols are obviously allowed, as long as they aren't antique :P

Knowing Belgium, everyone will vote for themselves out of mistrust for anyone else, and some kind of weird direct democracy coalition will need to be formed from 11 million or so individuals.

No drawing of any weapon at any time. Must be 18 years or older to carry a weapon. If you have additional questions, please contact the Festival Office at (248) 634-5552 for more information.
