Thankfully no.

Just do a bedcheck before bed, vacuum the closets out with the sucky wand before changing out summer and winter clothes, and always turn over shoes and smack the heels real good before putting the shoes on.

(The sucky wand is also great for gettng rid of wasps and hornets! Suck those shits into the collection canister, and let them die in there!)

Recluse spiders tend to gravitate toward areas that don't get a lot of foot traffic, and are dark. Drains in sinks and tubs, under stairs, in closets, and under bedding in the guest room.

The crawlspace is a natural beacon for the little shits.

Does that count?

Sorry, I thought that was obvious... didn't mean to wreck things.

oh i know.
we get wolfspiders here too :P
the biggest one i've ever saw was on a tree and it was almost tarantula size.

the wolfspiders i normally see are no bigger then a loonie.

edit: do you live in harmony with the bugs in your house or do you try to get rid of them?

We're on pretty good terms. My current roommate will kill any bug he sees, but I'll try to get them in a cup and let them outside if I'm around. Don't see any sense in killing them, and under other circumstances I'd share my place with a hunting spider or two. They help keep other bugs in check.

This is a Carolina Wolf Spider... 3 year old female nearing the end of her lifespan, judging by the size. She was freezing outside my first apartment in the Fall of 2008, so I took her in, set her up with an enclosure in a fishtank, and gave her delicious crickets for a few months, until she passed away. I loved the brown pattern on her carapace... so pretty!

For reference, her legspan was about 3 inches, 8 centimeters, or big enough to fill the palm of your hand.

I kill only ticks, mosquitoes, and the like.  Stuff that causes allergic reactions and disease, and will hunt you out.

So spiders get a pass.
