Intelligence itself is not an inborn trait, but is the result of focus, mental discipline, and study over time.

Okay, all done.

that's not entirely true, though.

these may not necessarily be inborn traits either, part of them at least, but can be attributed to upbringing and other factors you don't have control over. i'm also fairly certain that a great deal of your brain configuration is defined by your genetics and plays a large part on building your intelligence

of course that doesn't mean than any of these serve as an excuse not to try and improve yourself through hard work

Well, if it helps (and it usually doesn't,) I'm pretty much the epitome of the "brilliant but lazy" trope.

I have to agree with Rock Lee here. Of course circumstances, biology, and other limitations can make it difficult to learn or succeed at different things. That shouldn't stop you from pushing toward your goals, striving to reach your potential with everything you've got. Our potential can be surprising, far beyond what we believe it to be... especially in the face of disorders, injuries, or other circumstances. Letting what difficulties we face hold us back, telling ourselves that we can't do something, or aren't good enough, is almost always disingenuous to us and our potential.

*Solifuge puts the Sage Wisdom beard away in a locked vault, and buries it in the backyard, lest he be tempted to don it again.*

Now, you're upside down. Do you wear the beard on your face, in which case it'll get in your eyes? Or do you wear it on your butt?

Just a note: Fur on one's butt is not called a beard.

For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.
