Eh, to be honest, tophats are douchy by proxy due to the nature of aristocracy and a perceived superiority over their fellow man.

I would go so far as to contend that tophats 'elevate' you above all others, thereby declaring your mastery over them and an overt phallic symbol of dominance.

HAHA. Always wanted to do that. But seriously, tophats make you look like a douche 95% of the time.

What if you just wear them because you like hats? It's one of the 4 kinds of hats I have (top hat, hard and soft brimmed fedoras, poor boy hat, and a USSR military ushanka). The ushanka is more of something to wear as a joke, but it is warm.

Actually... Now I'm curious. Do I look like a douche?

Clothing-wise, no. Its the facial structure and expression that usually creates the fabled douche-effect. You facial expression is nearly bordering on douche. Its all in the smile/eyebrows.
