My kid used to have an awesome nerf double-barrel shotgun.  You actually stuffed the darts into shells and then loaded them in all Doom 2 break-action style.  I was sad when that thing broke.

I once replaced the springy part of a nerf gun to make it shoot a soaking wet nerfdart about 100 yards. Those darts get heavy when you soak them overnight. Also, they really hurt at point blank with that gun.

Yeah, the one I had as a kid only shot about 20 feet.

Neaaah, that's not that good.
My rifle can constantly hit a human-sized target at 70m (approx 196ft) with a velocity of 145mps (475 fps) and 0.3 grams projectile. And that's not even the best out there.
Best I've seen is a human chest target at 100m (328ft), 175mps (574 fps) with 0.4g bbs. But that means pouring serious amounts of money in upgrades which I really can't be bothered to do.

But I swear, I'm gonna do the nerf crossbow thing at a CQB game. Dark, damp corridors. The smell of decay. Some crazy idiot tagging you with a nerf crossbow painted in camo colors.

We had that one, but no shells anymore. Pity, it's surprisingly fun to load.

Never owned any nerf guns but I grew up around plenty of airsoft guns. I must admit to being tempted since we started stocking nerf stuff at the shop I work in.
