They're called bokken. You can get them a few thousand places on the intertubez, for about $20.

That would depend on how well the armor protected the samurai. If it's something like a chainmail bikini, but made of wood... yeah.

Against a bastard sword I don't think it would protect well at all. Wouldn't the bastard sword probably just crush/splinter the wood? It's kinda like getting hit with a bladed hammer.

I think the most important (perhaps the only important) thing to remember about getting smacked with a bastard sword is that you'll die.
