One wet and windy day, I ventured forth to run three miles in order to qualify for the State competition. This is a picture of that day.
This is near the middle of the third mile, when I was drafting off of this guy, who made a perfect windshield, being nearly seven feet tall. Unfortunately, I couldn't access the finish line camera's footage, or I'd have taken some screenshots of my finish with this guy. There were around 400 meters left when I was trying to catch this guy again, having lost him shortly before when he put on a burst of speed. With 200 meters left, we were running side by side up the hill right before the final stretch. Within sight of the finish, I'm running faster than I've ever run before at any distance, him on the right, me on the left. Unfortunately for me, he kept moving left. As we crossed the line, I leaned around him, barely avoiding the flags marking the side. Him being taller than me, his elbow hit me in the back while he tripping over me. He fell down right next to the line, but I flew a couple meters and then rolled a ways before standing back up. Looking at the tape of the finish, they had to slow it down 100x in order to see that I had one by the tip of my nose. It was possibly one of the most exciting races of my life, considering how close it was between my team and the other guy's. (We beat them by only three points, two of them from me passing this guy.)
