Had an overdue hike through the woods a bit ago (also part of my fieldwork for Botany) and finally got some snazzy pictures of Autumn. Lots of images here though.

Lots of prairie plants here. Staghorn Sumak turning red (didn't see berries though), and a few game trails worn through the fields by deer. The treeline pictures are some of my favorite... different species of trees changing color at different times, so you get a whole gamut of hues.

A few neat things to see on the trails. Quite a few tiny young trees, still green even in late October. Big old dead-tree-crotch, with ants and harvestmen in it (I tried to climb that tree for about 10 minutes, and failed miserably). There was a clearing, where the trees seemed to change more quickly, and I caught a brilliant orange one. Last, some yellow-red Sasafrass that had changed before all of its neighbors, which made for some interesting contrast.
