It took me a moment to interpret that. Maybe you have trouble with increasingly general words with lingering implications? I assure it, it is a constraint of the language only. "Person" may carry the implication of human, but there aren't other words (that I recall) for its primary definition. "Thing" may carry the implication of inanimacy, but there aren't other words (TIR) for its primary definition of sweeping inclusiveness.

This is my favorite picture of my son and I. We had been at a 1 year olds birthday party all day. I was disheveled, but he had so much fun. We found a freaking majestic steed to ride on the merry-go-round.
