It's some sort of springy but hard material. I dunno why, but Koreans love it on their bicycle roads.

We need better road construction here (every few months = "OH HEY TIME TO REPAIR THE ROAD AGAIN") because it cracks up. The construction is evidently...mediocre, and discolored shades of grey mark the places where the constructions differ.

I wish our roads had better supervisors.

Around here the roads tend to be pretty good, but in a few of the towns they're completely ugly and crappy because they've barely been repaired in their long lifetimes, and what repairs they did have were really minimalistic. Not like that in most places, though.

Contrary to the popular opinion, we have extremely sturdy and well-built roads in Russia, but they are frequently damaged by the overabundant, overloaded trucks and rarely repaired. Still, most of Russian roads are perfectly serviceable, if ugly.

It depends on the region, of course, but if you live somewhere where the roads are actually bad as in bad, chances are you have a vehicle capable of traversing them. Yeah, roads are not the biggest problem we have.
