It's Dwarves not dwarfs.

I actually owned and played that game to hell and back. It is a REALLY involving game and tons of fun. The giant controller just adds to the experience.

For Dwarf Fortress addition, I would suggest against it. A simple keyboard is more worth while... maybe even hooking up a typewriter some how.

Looking into modding DF? This forum guide & wiki guide may still be a good start!

I've mapped my wiimote to DF on the Mac. More useful in adventurer mode than fortress, but with the nunchuck attached you can run adventurer mode almost keyboard free.

That's a great idea. I have a 360 controller handy, and I'd love to be able to map that to DF.

A tendon in the skull has been torn!
The Raven has been knocked unconcious!

Elves do it in trees. Humans do it in wooden structures. Dwarves? Dwarves do it underground. With magma.

That is one hell of a Toblerone bar right there. :)
You should see the 4.5kg Toblerone. It's amazing.

It's not an embark so much as seven dwarves having a simultaneous strange mood and going off to build an artifact fortress that menaces with spikes of awesome and hanging rings of death.

oh god that toblerone. OH GOD. I WANT 4.

Huh. I have a 360 adapter too.... I think I'll have to do that when I go home in Feb.

As for a typewriter.... oh man.  Once I've built my powerhouse desktop in the summer, I'll have to make an old-school DF-only machine. Typewriter, tv, brass joystick, Linux, discarded high-power single-core CPU. Force my dwarves to live in a distopian steampunk past - brass clothing everywhere. I'll mod it so you can spin thread from brass and make awesome trenchcoats.   ...And a raygun.

We have the same laptop.
I pity you.  This thing blows. HP has no idea how to make laptops, they just put desktop parts in a laptop case. My mobo melted last year. Literally melted.

BTW: not pictured: 3liter Gingerale, dark chocolate-covered pomagranite bits.

Yeah it is mighty blow if you want to anything except interest and word processing. Maybe I'll get a better one sometime.

What program are you using to map the controller buttons for the game? I'd like to try it out.

Or use this:

http://www.steelbattalion.org/controller.php

I have one of them on my shelves here, always wanted to get it working on my pc

on the note of mapping controllers, you could use a guitar hreo guitar as well

just the software that comes with it. Google "logitech wingman extreme driver" and you'll find it.  It works well enough.

Edit: oh god I just noticed my forum rank. "Escaped Luantic" seems about right for this thread.
