I don't have your laptop, but I think I have that same joystick.  A Logitech Wingman, at any rate, if not extreme.  Same shape.

I wonder where the hell it is.  I certainly can't see anywhere to put it down on this desk, as much as I'd like to try out your setup...

Dwarf Fortress with a WarMouse Meta would be amazing.  With the new alt-stick function, that's 36 possible keys...and any of them can be mapped to any key combination in Windows, Linux, or OS X.
