As I'm stuck with my old PC as far as online gaming goes, I might reinstall it again.
But not for the game itself, rather for all the great custom maps that are out there.

Anyone wants to play one of those?

I played a bunch of Parasite 2 around then. They have dedicated servers now which host multiple games at once.

I liked the games based on techwars because they had almost no micromanagement. You could only control your builders and units would spawn at the barracks/factories you built every 30 seconds. You couldn't control those units and they would attack the enemy at the other end of the map on their own. It was basically a slow rock-paper-scissors game where you needed to respond to your opponent.

The Civilization Wars one was quite well developed.

I played a few DoTA games over the last week and I found the map pretty entertaining. I'm gonna try a few other maps this weekend.

I'm finishing installing now.

And if anyone is missing a Frozen Throne key, just let me know I have one left.

I will be mostly playing custom maps on Garena, but I can come over to Battlenet too if anyone hosts a game.

Edit: Btw are any Dota players on bay12? Because I'd really like to start over again.

Ahh good old WC3, I spent so many hours playing that. I don't play much anymore though. I wasn't really that great at the meele maps but I did enjoy the campaign. The custom maps were great though, not a fan of dota, but I really like the survival maps, parasite was great too. I liked playing alot of the RPG maps and D&D maps (the ones with DMs that make stuff).
Anyone ever play some of the custom campaigns? There's some really great ones there, my favourites would have to be The Chosen Ones and The Last Guardian.
I'm not on much anymore but if you want add me, I'm Level_8_Mudcrab on Azeroth (US East)

So i installed my old WC3 from disk and then got a digital download of Frozen Throne from battle.net

When creating a battle.net account, you must use your email address as your username

When logging into battle.net, my username (my email) does not fit.

My copy of Frizen Throne is now attached to my battle.net account with the too long username that cant log into battle.net

WTF?

EDIT: I figured it out, made another accoutn with shorter name :P

BTW, DoTA is pretty fun, and the peeps i have been playing with arent to mean either.

What "gateway" should we play on, I was thinking either Northrend or Azeroth.

I finally decided to reinstall WC3.
I can play on any gateway, got a decent connection so I can host, and generally to agree pretty much everything. Except dota.
Northrend is preferred gateway.

Good to see some other Warcraft peoples.

I don't play online much, due to horrid connection (THANKS HUGHSNET! >:() But back when i used to play, the gate you picked didn't really seem to matter as they all seem to be full of people who quit immediately if your less than level 10. Aside from that they really freak out if you don't build in the right order/right position.

Anyway, sometimes the micro managing is a minor pain , i find it's best to build 2 armies, air and ground (air to AA and destroy heroes and healers, Ground to be meatshields for da Hero). Heroes whether you like it or not are pivotal point in the game, their abilities can usually instantly change the tide of a battle, and their death can mean certain loss, and some people (REALLY GOOD PEOPLE) can win a match using the heroes and nothing else (no example sorry  :-\).

If anyone is up for a game and doesn't mind lag I'm in.

I recently watched a friend level an entire base of an enemy player* with just his blademaster.
He also destroyed half of two of the other enemie's bases with said blademaster, and slaughtered both their armies a little later.
Let's just say he rather turned the game around.

*Admittedly not a good player, he had towered up but his army was away.

heroes are why I prefer custom maps, because many custom maps focus just on the hero (no micromanagement, only 1 unit) or on armies ( yay, no heroes!)

Turns out I have the frozen throne but I can't find my original WC3 cd/key

This is why I like steam.
