Post the bugs you think will be in the upcoming version.
« on: January 27, 2010, 02:43:32 pm »

Thinking things over about the new version I came to a conclusion. Since dwarf fortress is getting more odd it will likewise become more buggy. Predicting them beforehand would be fun and a claim to bragging rights if we're right.

Bug 9002: Trade caravans arrive during away battles on the map your champions are fighting on

Bug 9003: Nobles mandating the construction of dwarves

Soap will be inserted into dwarf's wound, instead of being used to clean him
Cloth bandages will meld with dwarf becoming new layer of flesh.

You need to make said elf leather into the most amazing work of art.  Embed it with every kind of gem you have, stud it with metals, and sew images into it.  Erect a shrine outside your fort with that in the center.  Let the elves know that you view their very skin as naught more but a medium for your dwarves to work on.

Not to be a wet blanket, but in case you're thinking off-site actions like that are going to be in the next version, they aren't.

If Toady One is smart, he's going to read through this thread before the release, and ensure that everyone is wrong.

That would be a good thing!

Forgotten beasts instantly suffocating because they have neither a [NOBREATHE] tag or lungs.

Elves growing beards (totally a bug, imo)

Animals joining civs and reproducing with humans/dwarves/elves

Legend screens showing elves eating themselves.

Hollow creatures explode when they appear on the map, producing both hilarious and Fun results.

* Catsplosion prevention code causes cats to adopt other animals instead of Dwarves
* Skill rust occasionally boosts a Dwarf to Legendary+5 in a skill they've never even used
* Hammerer will, if no hammer is available, use any object in the vicinity as his weapon instead (including animals and fellow Dwarves)
* Tantrum spiral mitigation efforts can cause Dwarves to undergo spontaneous combustion
* If no traders survive the trip to your depot, but the pack animals still arrive, you can still trade (presumably with the lead camel)
* Accidental change to happiness code causes animals to inevitably tantrum after 2 years due to poor living conditions combined with no way for them to increase their happiness

Personally, I'd be really excited if that happened. It'd just be cool.

Well if COD players all have ADHD, and Minecrafters autism, then what do DF players all have?

Well, many people here are likely to mention things that could go wrong with the new features, which we know Toady's going to be testing to death anyway so it's unlikely there'll be anything going wrong with those except maybe in very extreme circumstances (which we'll probably uncover in the name of dwarven science but would be unlikely to discover through normal usage). What's more likely to go wrong is something that we've had for ages getting slightly cocked up...maybe all merchants/friendlies triggering traps again, or if you lock doors then you can't unlock them, or something silly like that :P

There are three things I know about dwarves:
1. They've got beards. Even the women.
2. They're short. Especially the women.
3. They're Scottish.

Dwarves get their legs amputated due to their thumb having a yellow tag.
